The location is ideal for how I like to stay in New York. The overall rating is low because the doorman stayed on his phone, I had to get and use the luggage rack myself while the bellboy helped the desk clerk (Justin) who had to be prompted for information on parking, early check out, etc. He needs a review course in hospitality.

The rooms don’t look anything like the picture. Going in I was worried I wouldn’t make it through the night to be honest. I guess you get what you paid for. The elevators are extremely small. I have more space under my bed than that of the elevator and trust me the hallways are even smaller. The building almost looks as if it was the projects before and then turned into a hotel.

You’ll Be Fine

This is a no frills place to stay. If you tell yourself it’s just a place to sleep, you’ll be fine. It’s a nice neighborhood near Central Park.The hotel is dated and the elevator is small. When you walk into your room, you might fall right into bed if you’re not careful. You won’t need a night light. Plenty of light will get through your blinds. The TV picture is excellent. Some have claimed the desk staff were rude. I did not experience this. They were courteous and made small talk just fine.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms and facility overall are a bit worn and old, but it's safe, pretty clean and in a great neighborhood. Super convenient to the subway and lots of dining options nearby.

Expedia should be ashamed of even listing this property. What is not shown in the "bronze" level photos is the paint and wallpaper peeling, the fixtures in the bathrooms dripping and rusting (both sink and shower), the dirt and crumbs under the bed, the soft spots in the floor that felt like you would fall through, the unusable/unworking TV, and the level of wear and tear on the furniture (paint rubbed off, etc.). The staff people in the lobby were rude and made me feel like I was bothering them with a question. The Night Hotel website notes that bronze rooms are "perfect for families." Had I been traveling with my family, I would 100% have found a different place to stay. I stayed only because there was no way to get a refund. Unfortunately, there was nothing in Expedia's descriptions of bronze/silver/gold rooms that told what the difference was. Apparently the other rooms have been renovated? I'm not sure that would've mattered to me as the building and elevator itself was sketchy and did not feel safe or up to code. The stairwells weren't even marked as "stairs," just signs that say a floor number and a letter. That feels extremely unsafe. The only positives about this hotel are the walking distance to a subway station and Central Park and the fact that they will store your luggage for you before you've checked in. That is it. There is nothing else positive to say about this place. Do not book it!
