We had a wonderful stay at the Portola. Staff was very welcoming & helpful through out our stay. Room was very clean with a comfy bed. The location is fantastic being right across from old fisherman’s wharf. Walking/bike path leads right to cannery row!

Great, overall it was a perfect stay. However, I do want to point out one issue: we went to have breakfast at Jack’s Monterey with our 7-month-old infant and brought her purée. The manager told us that outside food wasn’t allowed. This was quite surprising and honestly felt unreasonable given it was baby food.

Portola Hotel is overrated and overpriced. It’s a nice, medium condition hotel with average amenities that thinks it’s a world class accommodation and charges it’s guests for everything it can think of.
