Beautiful hotel, with great furnishings. Room was well equipped and the aircon/heating worked well. The towels were very large and luxuriously weighty and were changed each day in spite of them being on the hooks. The spa was excellent. Breakfast was average and the room was very crowded with tables too close together. The buffet area was very conjested. Overall, a not very great breakfast experience. Noticed on the menu, the charge was £60 (although it was included in our room rate). Certainly not worth that. The hotel is situated close to St James Underground with good connections. The staff in reception and in the breakfast room provided excellent service.

Breakfast room/bar fiasco

This hotel can be a maze of hallways and lifts. Check to see what section of hotel you may be headed for before you arrive. Going to your room can be a mousetrap of long hallways, turns, stairs etc. The other really big negative is the very poor location and size of the breakfast restaurant and bar. Unbelievable is the best way to describe the crowded, noisy, small area devoted to their primary restaurant, and the bar area is even more ridiculouts. Not what you would expect for a very expensive London hotel.

The staff were excellent and went over and above on the service. The hotel itself is situated within a hundred and fifty yards of Buckingham Palace and within easy walking distance of Westminster Bridge. This makes it a great place for anyone interested in walking around the central sites in London. I would recommend this hotel when visiting London.

Promote Faraz Khan to front desk or duty manager. His personal service was extraordinary - leaving the front desk to change our room, checking on us each day as my wife was using a cane from a recent injury, and getting us thru the "no hot water" problem.. This was our 3rd stay at St James and we will be back because of Faraz Khan.

Spacious modern room. Very walkable location for first time visitor key landmarks like Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, and Big Ben. Easy underground access to West End Theater District where we saw shows. Staff provided excellent service. Concierge William went out of his way to help me with a minor crisis when I lost an item on a taxi. He tracked down the cabbie and got my item delivered to me promptly. We would stay here again.
