It was great few days stay to get a taste of Japanese lifestyle. Recommend it for young couples, no children.
Townhome was cute. The google map link may need to be updated though as it was not showing up at all and had to use nearby landmark input to find the house. Other than that it was very nice and charming.

A perfect stay if visit on a cooler season
The newly constructed machiya is exactly what you see on the images. It is rather compact (because of the partitions) and it is only recommended for a couple.
Were transported to the machiya by 2 staff from the Rinn's reception. Both staff had no clue on the exact location of the machiya. It was no joke to walk in a 5°c rainy 9pm with an elderly in search of the machiya. I was really amazed especially the male staff had no sense of urgency to search for (where is the Japanese culture?).
The machiya comes with really thin wall and thin roof. I could hear the rain drops from the roof. I could also hear from the neighbours however it was generally quiet. The only concern is the thin wall in which the machiya was always at less than 5°c. It was really cold (I was frozen) especially at wee hours.
We were very glad to find and stay at this place. It was such a great experience to stay in a Japanese house. The location is very convenient. The neighborhood is very clean and quiet. There's a big temple right next to it and the metro station is about 10 min. walk. The house is very new and clean. Big enough for 2 people. We loved the Zen garden in the back and the bathroom. It was so relaxing to sit in the hot tub looking out to the garden. The mattresses were very comfortable. Although we slept on the floor, we couldn't feel the hard floor. The staff at Rinn was very friendly and helpful. If we ever come back to Kyoto, we will def. stay at this place again.
Communicating with the front desk staff is quiet hard, because of their bad English.
And, they had directed us to take a wrong bus to the house. That wasted us a lot of time and money in our Kyoto trip.
Other things about this house is fine.
