Within walking distances to restaurants, shops and parking. Nice outdoor area, nice breakfast. The room needs a little TLC, small quarters for the price, bed was decent, great shower, but bathroom very small. No parking, luckly the lot 1 1/2 blocks was only 15 dollars a day.Once we arrived we had to pay a convenience fee, which we were unaware of nor did we unstand what this additional charge was for. They stated that it is charged to everyone staying there.

It is a very nice property - lots of plants, the pool water was great. Really liked one of the guys that worked there. The lady wasn't friendly. Our room was big, but very dark. Nice high ceilings but could use some lighting in the front half. It was very dark. It was odd that the light switch for the bathroom was on the outside of the door - maybe just because it is an older building, but when I got up in the night, the light would spill over the bed which sometimes woke my husband. We had to move the rug in order to get the refrigerator open. The breakfast was great - not always open on time, but that didn't really matter. Overall we really enjoyed the property.

It was fine until… We stayed 4 nights. We didn’t have soap…fine, we bought some. The faucet was broke…no biggie, we made it work. The bad part came when we checked out and we had quite a bit of time before our trip home so we hung out at the pool. Our room was right by the pool so we saw the maid clean up our room after we checked out. She placed new clean sheets on the bed but used the same comforter and pillow shams that we had just slept in for 4 nights. Gross. Does that mean we just slept in someone else’s comforter for 4 nights?! So we looked around and noticed the maids did not take any comforters out of the rooms, only the sheets. My husband said something to the front desk and they were quick to discount what we were saying. They said something like they only clean them every other day. I don’t think he was understanding that new customers were about to sleep on the comforter that we just slept on for 4 days. I don’t understand how this is ok.

Nope. Not for this price (or any).

First the positives: Great location in Old Town. Nice neighborhood. The grounds including pool are quaint and pretty. Greeter was pleasant. Nearby Sarabeth’s was excellent for breakfast. Negatives: Room was very tired and in serious need of update. All plumbing fixtures were wonky and leaking. Competed for hot water with other guests. No water at all coming from hot water at kitchenette sink. Furniture mismatched and old. Terrible MUSTY smell throughout. Dilapidated air conditioning unit in window. All exterior doors are glass French doors so no privacy. Tub and shower tiny. Bathroom lighting was a single bulb 12 feet above head so useless. Breakfast is basic continental unless you want to wait 20 minutes for an omelette. Plus limited hours of 8 am -10 am. We came down at 8:15 am for a quick coffee and there was none. Very understaffed. Boy do we feel ripped off. Keep searching for anywhere else in Old Town. It is all very walkable.

A better place would be difficult to find.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Heron House. This was our second time staying there, but certainly not our last. Our room, deluxe king, was spacious, clean and a most comfortable bed. The pool was very clean and quite refreshing; a great place to meet other guests and have conversations. We very much enjoyed the C/O sun deck where we could work on an all over tan. The morning breakfast was adequate; lovely dining area, where, again, one can meet other guests and enjoy nice conversation. The location is perfect. Parallel to busy Duval St., but without all the crowds. Overall, a great place to stay.
