Our room was next to pool and very noisy due to unsupervised kids in the pool for hours. Ask for room away from pool. A long walk to Duval Street. Bed was very comfortable. The room was a little old, but clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Great Location

The front desk staff was fantastic!! They were so friendly, helpful, and attentive. The property is in a great location for Key West. Our room was clean and the parking was great. I will say for paying more than $300 a night, I do think it is a bit overpriced.

Of all the places we stayed in Florida, Authors Guesthouse was the best. We were in the Harry Truman room, which has a very warm, cozy decor and a great balcony. It's located in a quiet, authentic, historic residential neighborhood, which is kind of far to walk from the local sites like the Hemingway House, but doable for those in reasonably good health. The door to the adjoining Margaret Truman room is quite thin, and unfortunately the guests there had the TV on the entire night, which made it a little difficult for us to sleep. That's not the hotel's fault though. Breakfast was just fine, and although we didn't use the pool, other people were having fun there. I'd stay there again.

We stayed in the Hemingway Cottage. It was very nice, and for the most part quiet. Its a small property thats kept clean, with gardens and a nice hot tub area with places to sit outside. Parking can be a bit challenging, but once you figure it out, its not bad. Breakfast was continental style, but we did not use it as we had our own food in the cottage. I would stay here again.

This property is great! Very peaceful and clean environment; backyard has beautiful garden; swimming pool is clean; staff is friendly. Room has enough space, very cute decor and comfortable bed. Price is reasonable and all attractions are walkable distance 10-15 minutes. If you rent a bicycle, it’s even better. This property is good deal and I had amazing experience there!

Lovely stay for our 50th Anniversary

Loved our one night stay in a cute blue room looking over the pool. It was on the second floor with lush tropical trees billowing over the terrace. Downstairs had more rooms and lots of tables with umbrellas and sitting areas. Everything was surrounded by beautiful tropical landscaping. Wished we could have stayed longer. The bed and pillows were the most comfortable ever! Was pleasantly surprised they had a light breakfast in the morning with delish coffee. The staff were helpful and friendly. Will definitely stay again sometime and highly recommend to friends. Oh and btw the price was well affordable.

Quaint outdated & expensive.

Needs update of electric & plumbing. We had to keep opening the toilet's back cover to put hose in correct spot and lift the handle up to fill the stool. Sweet nostalgia of 60's & 70's. No plasticware to eat continental breakfast. 7 block walk to Duval bus ride. No coffee availability after breakfast which was served from 8-10. We loved the plantings. No pool. Warm, not hot, spa. No pool. I guess the property was hit hard by past hurricane. Upstairs rooms are reached by outdoor wooden outdoor stairs. Not handicap friendly. Staff took our suitcases up. We had to bring them back down the stairs ourselves.

Cozy, Close, for a Great Price

It is a very charming place and reminded me of Europe. It has a friendly atmosphere and the place can be described as cosy and comfortable. And located in old town Key West Highly close to everything . Highly recommended.

Needs soundproofing.

We stayed in the “Library.” The room was clean and spacious. However, it never is truly dark because of shutter blinds and no curtains. When the outside motion light came on due to a pedestrian, it woke us up. Even worse was the lack of soundproofing. I could hear someone open a can of soda in the room next to us. We could hear every single car. And worst of all, the rooster that crowed from 2:30-5:30 and beyond each day sounded like it was right outside the window. Something needs to be changed about the soundproofing of the rooms to make them better. Lastly, there was no silverware in the room and with the office being closed early in the evening, that was super inconvenient. If we ever return to Key West, we’d stay somewhere else.
