"Good location average service"
The hotel is ok. Location is great. Rooms and parts of the hotel are dated but look like it is getting slowly refurbished etc. Room was clean. Service wasn't rude but it was basic. No in house movies but limited foxtel. Our TV signal was out when we checked in, it took over 2 hrs to fix. No offer of a room change or a complimentary anything. We ended up asking them to come back later because we wanted an arvo sleep and needed to have showers etc for the event we were going to that night. Even the concierges were so busy we got our own things out of the store room every time instead of waiting 10 minutes for them.

"Pleasant boutique hotel in Fremantle"
We had a one week holiday in Fremantle. The Hougoumont is right in central Fremantle but there was not much noise on Friday and Saturday probably because it's in a side street. There is easy access to all the usual attractions in Freo and to the public transport system but f you have a car, they have good offstreet parking. We were able to move around without a car because of its proximity to transport, and the loan bikes the hotel offers. Staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful. The light fruit and pastry in the morning and the drinks and nibbles on weekday evenings are a nice touch, as are the fruit and coffee in the lounge. The room we had was the smaller type, and it is a small room as these things go, with storage a bit limited. This small disadvantage is far outweighed by the general experience we had and I recommend the Hougoumont without reservation.

"Surprising gem in a suburban street."
We were initially suprised as this was based in what appeared to be a semi-suburban street, however it was a very conveniently placed property with a modest and charming frontage. The owners have however created an peaceful haven of modern design.

"The outstanding position "
The position of these apartments is wonderful, though it is VERY hard to find. The view is quite spectacular, extending right down Fremantle Harbour. The apartment is reasonably well equipped, though there is very little space to prepare food in the kitchen area. The staff are helpful. I would certainly recommend the apartment for the view alone!

"Accomidation was in a great location."
Breakfast vouchers were great at the cafe across the road. Only inconvenience is no parking on site, so a little walk but not easy with your luggage, also becomes costly.

"Great Service, and clean!"
I booked as a quick stayover en-route to work. Wanted something cheap, wasn't too concerned about quality as long as it was clean. The hotel had rung me whilst I was on a plane, wondering about my check-in time. I rang back an hour after their call (and reception had closed) and the lady on the phone gave me instructions about how to get in late. I arrive at the hotel close to midnight (2 full hours after my eta) and the night-phone was answered cheerfully, and I was let in with all the courtesy and grace that one would expect during more respectable hours. I was offered the full functionality of the premises and shown through an old grand building to a clean room with a comfortable bed, and a clean and (I suspect) recently renovated amenities. Had a quick wander around in the morning before I left, and the old and spacious building was spotless. Definitely stay there again! Congratulations to the staff, who are doing a sensational job!!

"Close to Freo Arts Centre"
We are Perth locals and booked a room here at the last minute for a concert at the Freo Arts Centre. Great location if you want somewhere close enough to totter back home afterwards. Our room had a comfy bed, cool air con and a nice vibe. Free tea/coffee, iced water and nibbles in the room was a nice touch - and wine glasses! Enjoyed views of the water from the shared balcony. I'm not normally into B&B's (it can feel like you are staying at your grandmas) but this B&B is more like an arty hotel with breakfast included (which was very nice btw). Loved the attention to detail throughout the building. Will definitely stay again if I have an event in Fremantle.

"Cosy Freo B&B"
Very friendly, helpful manager. Great central location in west end Fremantle. The room (Down Under suite) was excellent, with beds for 4, kitchenette, mini laundry, dining and lounge.

Famous for its bohemian vibe, organic food and cafe culture, Fremantle, or "Freo" as the locals call it, is the perfect place for a relaxing beachside getaway. You'll find some great deals on Fremantle accommodation here.

    Things to Do

Bathers Beach, Port Beach, Leighton Beach and South Beach are the best places for swimming, sunbaking and relaxing in Freo. Fremantle is quite famous for its beachside markets and the ever-changing faces of its fascinating stalls, open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You'll find everything here, from herb stalls to Indigenous products to ethnic cuisine to cookie specialists with to-die-for flavours like red velvet, lemon pie and panna cotta! Besides the markets, there are plenty of unique specialist stores scattered around town, offering endless opportunities to shop until you drop. After 40 years, the Myer store, right in the middle of Freo, closed its doors in 2013. A team of creatives then set to work to recycle and redesign the huge space and turn it into "MANY", a very cool alternative department store, now home to local artists, fashion designers, graphic artists, retro clothing collectors, artisan food producers, baristas, hair dressers and much, much more. So make sure you pack your credit card!

After all that shopping, you'll need a coffee break. Besides the well-known "Cappuccino Strip", which runs from the train station to the markets, there are quite a few hidden gems in Freo, where you can sip on a great cup of coffee or munch on an organic snack. Hustle on High Street is very popular with the locals and, on Sundays, a D.J. comes in to spin some records. Another great live music venue is the funky X-Wray bar, next to the Lunar Alternative Cinema. The Raw Kitchen is also a popular spot, specialising in raw, vegan, organic and gluten-free food. If you're a tea drinker, you'll love The Little Concept, which specialises in rooibos tea and unique combination flavours like iced chocolate peanut butter chai! Of course, no visit to Freo would be complete without visiting the award-winning chocolate factory too.

    Events

The biggest event of the year is the Fremantle Festival, Australia's longest running annual event, held in late October/early November. Inside of this mega event, there are numerous smaller festivities, such as the Seafood Festival, Coffee Festival, Children's Fiesta and the ever-popular Street Parade. That's not the only event Fremantle is famous for, though. Over the Easter long weekend, thousands flock to Freo to be entertained by the live entertainers at the annual Street Arts Festival.

    Getting Here

To get to Freo, jump aboard one of these cheap flights to Perth. From Perth, Fremantle is only a half-hour train trip away and, once you're here, the town is all walkable! Although, if your legs are a bit weary, there are two free bus services, called the Red CAT and the Blue CAT, which are a great way to get to South Beach and back.

So wot are you waiting for? Book your flights and Fremantle accommodation with us now and start packing for your getaway in Freo!
