The room was quite small but sufficient. And while it was definitely clean, it was in need of updating. Signs of wear throughout - rusty light fixture in the bathroom, tile needing to be regrouted, water damaged door, window sill paint was flaking off, chair was quite worn. Not up to my normal Holiday Inn experience and expectations. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean as I mentioned though.

Just to be clear the rooms were clean and in very good condition. At the time I was there the pool and fitness center were under renovations and this information was passed on to me upon my reservation. But one of the two elevators were down the entire trip causing delays anytime you enter or left the property as they only had one elevator, and staff used this elevator for serving the hotel. Homeless persons outside the hotel entrance asking for money when leaving the property. I know this is a problem, but they need to ensure a safe perimeter at the front entrance we should not be approached directly outside the front door. Food in restaurant onsite was very good including the options for breakfast. I also had steak sandwich for dinner one night and it was very good based on the location and price. Guest services at front desk were quick on checking me in and out. They were not very informative on providing information on the Calgary area on other amenities or areas to eat or drink.

Not worth the stay

For a non-smoking room there was clearly an odour from previous smoking. There was smoking in a nearby room making the hallway smell. There was a dog barking throughout the evening then someone pounding on a door in the middle of the night. The staff was excellent but that was the only highlight.

I am a large person with some restricted movement but able bodied. The handicapped suite i was offered had a narrow entrance and heavy door with no automatic opener. This would be very difficult for a wheelchair bound guest as is the toilet access as there is a hand rail and paper dispenser too close to the seat. The shower was adjustable at the top of the rail which was good for me but I cannot fathom how a wheelchair bound guest would adjust it.. in addition the snack machine and one elevator were out of service.
