You'll struggle to find accommodation in the middle of Whakamaru. There's only 1 hotel within 10 kilometres, so you should get in quick!

Wairakei is 35 kilometres to the southeast of Whakamaru and is where you'll find the Aratiatia Rapids and Taupo Hot Springs.
