I want to start by saying that Hyatt at Olive 8 was, in many ways, exactly what I was hoping for when choosing a place to stay during my marathon weekend. The room was comfortable, the location was ideal, and overall it felt like a great place to rest and recover before and after the race.
However, what happened at the swimming and jacuzzi area after the marathon turned what could’ve been a perfect stay into a deeply disappointing one.
After finishing the race, I headed down to the jacuzzi to relax sore muscles, something I was genuinely looking forward to. Instead, I ended up cutting my foot on a piece of glass that was inside the jacuzzi. I even found and removed the piece myself, bringing it straight to the front desk. Unfortunately, the response I received was far from reassuring. I was met only with a surprised, “Oh no,” followed by “we’ll notify the pool manager.” No first aid, no concern for whether I was okay, no apology, nothing.
For a hotel of this level, I expected a more proactive and caring response, not just for me, but for the safety of the next guest using those facilities.
I share this not out of negativity, but because I truly believe Hyatt at Olive 8 has the potential to deliver an exceptional experience every time. The stay should have been five stars. I genuinely hope the hotel takes this seriously and improves staff awareness and response protocol for incidents like this in the future. Guest safety must always come first.
