Overall a fine stay
We have stayed at The Clift several times but this last time it felt a bit worn. I saw new color way in photos so thought it had a refresh but it still seemed a bit tired. I know it’s an old building so I give some slack but it may be time for some remodeling. Staff was friendly and rooms were pretty clean. I always love the location, with SF going through a rough patch there is sadly a lot closed now around the property. But this will change in time. The proximity to sight seeing is good. Had a nice cocktail in the Redwood Room. Overall our stay was fine, but missing a bit of the quality I remember.

Great stay.
Room was very comfortable, bed and linens were top-notch, service and responsiveness terrific. I've stayed here many times and I think it's improved over time. Even the Redwood Room was wonderful.

The hotel is fantastic - it looks like it was refreshed very recently. Super comfortable bed, great linens, brand new bathroom, and the room is large enough for guests to be comfy. The area around the hotel is fine, but it is on the edge of the Tenderloin and thus has some addicted and unhoused community members milling about. I never felt unsafe myself, and I confidently walked to and from transit (8 minutes to Powell, 5 minutes to the Cable Car) including to find an Airport bus at 5 AM my last day. I'm not sure it would be fair to hold the hotel accountable for these urban issues, but it would be something for families to keep in mind. I will definitely stay again the next time I am back in gorgeous SF.

The room was awesome, very large. The beds were extremely comfortable. The staff was amazing, from the front desk to the house keepers everyone was super accommodating and kind. I will definitely be staying here every time I come back to San Francisco!

I stayed here for Pride weekend, and from the moment I arrived, it was a bad experience. There was no parking available, and the front of the hotel had a "no parking" sign. I pulled up to the side and asked if I could check in and get help with my bags. They said they would park my car but didn't mention there would be a $75 per day charge. Despite the lack of parking, the attendant was really rude and unhelpful. On Sunday, I left for an event around 1 PM, and when I returned at 6 PM, I noticed someone had been in my room even though I hadn't requested any service. This invasion of privacy is unacceptable. I will not be coming back.

The bathroom was quite peculiar. The toilet paper holder was positioned near the ground, and the ceiling shower faucet was so close to the wall that I could only use it by pressing my body against it. The shower curtain was so short that water spilled out no matter how careful I was. Despite the bathroom being large, there was no storage cabinet, so towels were crammed onto a small table under the basin, and extra toilet paper was awkwardly fitted into a gap. The amenities had a cheap coconut smell. It seemed like none of the hotel staff had ever used the bathroom themselves. Additionally, a variety of taxes ass/w San Francisco were added at checkout.
