Check in on Saturday afternoon was slow. Two ladies on reception, one was dedicated to typing up her autobiography (or something?), the other had to do all the checking in. Eventually I got into the lift (to go to my first floor room). The electronic card didn't work, but that didn't matter, because there was no first floor button. Others in the lift had a look, and were quite bemused - saying that I must be on the 11th floor, as indeed there appeared to be no first floor! Eventually I found a little plaque, at my belly button level, that if you knelt down I could read that the first floor button was "on the wall behind you". But still it didn't matter, as my electronic card would not work. By this time I had gone up and down (due other people) several times. I finally got out, went and waited (again) at recption - other girl still typing her autobiography, and asked for help getting to my room. Eventually it was determined that my electronic card wasn't working/wasn't activated, or some other reason. The eventual room was very nice, clean and quite - plenty of room for my two night stay. Dinner at the Italian (in house) restaurant was nice, with good food and pleasant ambience. When I walked in, I was told to "sit anywhere", and generally treated like I'd been there before. I eventually found out that there were BOTH inside and outside dining areas - I sat outside, it was a mildly balmy evening, and quite nice away from the general bustle of the inside restaurant. I usually love this hotel, but I am not sure if the ownership or management changed or something. My room landline phone started ringing ucontrollably at 3:48AM...asking for some sort of system password to be entered onto the phone. I couldn't fall back asleep for an hour after this as I had to research if there was a fire or some emergency and couldn't simply call the front desk as the phone didn't work. Whoever is responsible for that system servicing at that hour...should be fired. Especially if this happened with all of hotel guests. The breakfast room service was fast however the quality of chef skill was bad. Dry scrambled eggs and hard inedible bacon. The room fridge was unplugged and I couldn't get cold water in my room on a very hot day, nor did I have milk for the coffee in the morning. At check-out (9AM) there was a note saying the reception is unattended and to call the number if assistance was needed. Would have been nice to be greeted goodbye.

Our three night stay was PERFECT on the first and third days (Sunday 14/12 & Tues 16/12) with happy, efficient staff (especially Hui) but on Day Two (Monday 15/12) the staff were lazy with attitude at breakfast and arrogant after a mistake with a room service order, until the manager stepped-in and bent-over-backwards to make things right.
