My only negative comment about Gold Coast is that I understand this is an older hotel, however the fire alarm in our room went early in the morning, around 8am, while we were still sleeping. Also the cleaner (the one who cleans the rooms after check out) came by our room early, around 9am and check out is not until 11am.

No one at the front desk greeted us upon arrival. There were three clerks present; one immediately told me they were training and could not help me, one told me to wait in line, and the two who were available and not helping any other customers stayed on their computers without any additional acknowledgements. I ended up using the self-service kiosk to check in, which wasn't even mentioned as an option by the clerks while I was standing there waiting. We selected the non-smoking wing, but this wing consistently smelled strongly of marijuana, so there were definitely people smoking in nearby rooms or in the hallways, as the hallways always reeked of marijuana and the smell would come in through our air conditioning system. My children were consistently bothered by this strong smell while we were in the room and walking through the hotel. There was a false fire alarm one night around 11:45pm and there was no communication from the hotel staff as to what was happening and no "all clear" given once the alarm was turned off. After the false alarm, the system would turn on randomly throughout that night and the next morning with random static and beeping coming from the fire alarm panel/speaker. The room itself had some issues. The floor of the bathroom was sticky, the bathroom door had some red sticky substance on it, and the mini fridge in the room barely worked. This stay was definitely not worth the money that I paid, and I will not be returning to Gold Coast.

I am writing this review to express my disappointment with the hotel's decision not to provide a full refund for my cancelled trip from 7/18 to 7/20. The airline actually cancelled our trip to Las Vegas on the evening of 7/18, after my elderly mother and I had waited at the airport for 6 hours. Spirit Airlines, like many other flights, had to cancel due to a computer malfunction. The next day, I contacted the hotel to explain the situation and request a refund, but they refused, citing their policy of non-refundable reservations. I tried to explain to customer service that the circumstances were beyond my control, but they were unsympathetic and unwilling to listen.

The front desk clerk was the highlight of my stay. He was pleasant, attentive, and treated you with respect. Also, the security was noticeable and talkative. The downside no pool access, the staff never approached you while playing machines and plenty of the other staff was rude and very short.
