This was the best value hotel we stayed at on our trip to Japan. While superficial elements (like the shower walls material) were not as "nice" as other, more expensive hotels we used during the trip, at half the price of those ones, Sotetsu Fresa was just about equal in everything that mattered to us: room size for the money, bed comfort, cleanliness, amenities available, location, etc. I would definitely recommend considering the Sotetsu Fresa chain as a strong option if you're budget-conscious. I think you'd have to go up quite a bit in price to do much better.

Overall, the service was good, but it was a pity that the curtain was not fully opened. And I stayed for four nights, and the cleaning condition was different every day. Some days it was clean and some days it was too uncleaned. I think there needs to be improvement in this area.

Great location. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. Short walk to Daimaru and Tokyu hands. Very close to Shijo Station. We would stay here again.

Property was great and staff was friendly. Area was really good for our trip. Only issue was the bed was not the most comfortable and not many amenities available in the room. I would still stay at this hotel again and recommend it to anyone else traveling to Kyoto in comfort but not extravagance.
