We were rather surprised at the quality of the hotel after reading reviews online. However smaller details of the hotel impacted our experience. No parking onsite (a 15min walk away at Edinburgh Castle), the wrong size duvet (double) put in a king size duvet cover, general wear and tear and cleanliness issues apparent in the corridors and bathroom, tried to use the phone in the room to contact reception/housekeeping/room service on multiple occasions. Due to this I to walk across the road to reception to order room service - as the hotel is split into two.

Very spacious room, needs updating but has all facilities you need for a few days stay. Bed was comfy, shower had good water pressure but was leaking. Close to haymarket tram line station, area is quiet to get a good night sleep. Around the corner there is some good breakfast places and convince stores. Staff were very friendly and happy to help.Overall would stay here again!

Really close too everything!

I didn't think the noise would bother me but it sounded like there was literally a wrestling match going on up stair! Staff werr nice though and didn't have to walk far to get places!

Glad I didn't pay rack rate

Pros: location was great, bus and trams right there and walking distance to Princes Street.
Cons: new mattress in single rooms.
Location: Bus, tram and train all a few steps away from the front door. Coffee shop on corner as well as pub and other eaterys.
The room was OK however the bed was uncomfortable with a substantial "dip" in the middle. Since I obtained this room/hotel via the mystery system for a great price, I was quite happy with the smaller size room and older style set up. Or perhaps the Hilton is just not what it use to be (?)

Pros: Reasonably close to shops, castle and restaurants. Nice area.
Cons: Carpets, entrance (very dark and dowdy) and provision of lifts.
The room was large with a comfortable bed but room temperature too hot and TV did not work. Ensuite well appointed but toilet situated so close to door that it was bumped every time you opened the door. Carpets worn which made the room appear somewhat dirty. Had to take cases up stairs as there was no lift.
