Raffles Beijing Hotel

33 East Chang'an Avenue, Block B, E, Beijing - Map
I love this hotel for its style and sevice. Also it's location is very good: very close to subway station, Forbidden City and Wang Fu Jing. However a better shower head will make it perfect. Nevertheless I will tell my friend about this hotel, and likely to stay here again when I come to Beijing the next time.

"Perfect location for exploring."
We had an enjoyable experience, the hotel was clean and tidy with all the required conveniences. The location is perfect for sight seeing being within walking distance to Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City and close to a subway station. English speaking staff were few and far between but it isn't an amusing holiday unless you get to mime your requests. My only major gripe is that someone (hopefully the cleaners) left our door wide open while we were out exposing our valuables to the wider population (happy to say nothing was taken).

"Nice hotel, great room, clean and comfortable."
But... No lounge bar or hotel atmosphere. Great hotel for clean comfortable room and walking (a few blocks) distance to tian'namen square and downtown shopping but the Hotel is a stand alone. I like a hotel that I can come back to in the evening and relax in a friendly lounge bar and catch up with fellow travellers or listen to some music. For this reason I wouldn't stay here again but would highly recommend it for its accomodation.

"Heating/Cooling doesn't work, other facilities ok"
We had 4 people in 2 rooms for a 5 days stay at the Regent Beijing in late March 2016 (Spring). When we arrived the temperature gauge in both rooms said it was 30 degrees Celsius (86 F) in the rooms. We asked the front desk to fix the cooling or move us, they couldn't fix it and said there were no other rooms. On day two when we asked again to be moved, we tried 5 rooms before finding two under 25 degrees. When we moved, we were more able to enjoy the hotel. Good sized rooms, lovely breakfast buffet, huge swimming pool and adequate gym. The front desk staff and concierge could do with some more customer training, eg on problem solving and dealing with issues efficiently, but they were friendly and tried to help. I had to go up 4 levels of management to get them to throw in a complimentary breakfast for 2 of us for the inconvenience we suffered with the hot rooms and moving rooms.
