The property is gated and the property itself is wonderful. The area around the property hosts a large population of homeless.

When I booked this hotel I had higher expectations but when we arrived we were disappointed. Toilet wouldn’t flush even after maintenance was called up. Towels very thin and scratchy. Very flat pillows. The peppery area the hotel during the evening was very dark and felt unsafe walking into parking garage. During the day there was a homeless person sleeping on the sidewalk.

The hotel itself was very clean and the staff were professional and friendly. Unfortunately, the location is a serious drawback. It’s in a seedy part of town, and during my stay I actually heard five gunshots at night. While the inside of the hotel feels nice, the surrounding neighborhood does not feel safe. On top of that, every single ice machine on every floor was broken, which was frustrating. For the price and the “Renaissance” name, I expected more. Bottom line: the property itself is well-kept and the staff do a good job, but the location and environment around it make this a place I will never stay again.
