Nice East Bay Hotel on the Bay

The Doubletree Berkeley Marina hotel is on the Marina looking across SF Bay to San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. I would have preferred a bay view room, but there aren’t many.You should take a walk on the paved path in front of the hotel with great views. Rooms are well furnished and maintained. It has a large lobby with a fancy restaurant and many meeting rooms. However, the $42 parking charge is ridiculous, and you should pay attention to parking options on your travel website ($13 on Hotels.com). I will stay there again.

The Doubletree is reasonably priced and reasonably maintained. Nothing super, nothing terrible. Just reasonable.

Great Location

Excellent location for a vacation stay. Restaurant on site, parking ($42) and near the freeway. Close to great downtown shopping in Berkeley and Emeryville. A nice break away from the city surrounded by water and great views.

I booked this property and asked for a room that was non-connecting and wanted a room in the corner because in my past experiences when traveling, those rooms tend to be much quieter. Upon arrival, I was given a connecting room that was not at the end of the hall. Few hours later it sounded as if someone was walking on the roof. Awfully loud noises from the roof. Could be the creaking from the vents and old building. Then another guest moved in next door and the doors are so thin that I could hear them playing on their phone. Around 10:30 I had to call the front desk to move rooms. Front desk agent was polite. There was a room on the 1st floor same building available . We retrieved new keys and packed and moved. Unfortunately that room location wasn’t any better. We were the first room next to the building entrance doors and elevators. We were woken up by guests in and out at 4am. Extremely loud. Barely got a few hours of sleep. Elevator was loud and went off throughout the night. Overall it was not an experience I expected from a Hilton property. For almost $200/night it absolutely wasn’t worth it.

For the price of the stay you would at least expect a microwave in the room. The bath tub and interior of the rooms needs to be updated. Staff and lobby was nice though and loved the water machine.

Great Quick Trip

Lovely hotel. Comfortable bed. The hot tub was nice, but temperature should be a little higher. The fried chicken sandwich and Wagyu burger were excellent from the Boathouse restaurant. I will stay here again.
