Hawke's Bay is one of the most popular golf destinations on the North Island. Of all the golf courses in Hawke's Bay, the most famous of the bunch is Cape Kidnappers Golf. In fact, it's a bit of a local celebrity. Cape Kidnappers is one of the top golf courses in the world.

While Cape Kidnappers gets the glory, Hawke's Bay has acclaimed courses for every level. That includes true beginners. Hawke's Bay has mini golf, too!

Cape Kidnappers Golf Course

  • For serious golf-lovers, it doesn't get much better than Cape Kidnappers. The course was recently named the sixth-best course outside the United States.
  • The 6,510m, par 71 course is built on a ridge-and-valley landscape. Players have to be long and straight off the tee.
  • Try not to get distracted by the scenery! With dramatic cliffs and sweeping bays, the views are breathtaking.

Other Hawke's Bay Golf Courses

  • Cape Kidnappers isn't the only game in town. Napier Club is often listed among the best New Zealand golf courses. It's a relatively short course, but it has several sharp doglegs for a challenge.
  • Hawkes Bay Golf Club is known for its native trees, wide greens and wildlife. The course makes for easy walking.
  • Hastings Golf Club, founded in 1898, is one of the region's most popular courses. Be sure to book ahead!

  • If you have little golfers in tow, or you just want to work on your putt, you'll find plenty of mini-golf in Hawke's Bay.
  • Test your skills at Par2 MiniGolf in Napier. The 18-hole putting course has beautiful bay views and fun challenges for all ages.
  • For a full day of family fun, head over to Splash Planet. In addition to epic slides and rides, this water theme park has a fun and colourful 18-hole golf course, too.
