"Up and down"
Campaspe House is a delightful venue with charming staff. The House itself is a great venue of Australian Federation design - lots of dark wood panelling, open fires, lounges for sitting around. Very cosy. The additional rooms built around the outside of the square are clean and tidy, but are getting a little dated - the bathrooms need updating. I found the staff extremely welcoming and friendly, but unfortunately when I stayed (early October), the hydronic heating heat was off and the radiator hissed and burbled loudly all night, keeping me awake. Apart from this maintenance issue, the venue is delightful, and a short walk into Woodend (maybe 400 metres) takes you to the numerous small restaurants and pubs.

"Central and with character"
It was an over-nighter business trip, but we would stay again. Central to the town, clean and friendly. I like the tea station and well presented self serve breakfast. Down a few stairs, our private, period bathroom was VERY large and just next door. Fluffy white robes and slippers made it easy. The staff were friendly, and helpful with directions. If you are going to stay in a historic town, this is a great place to soak up a bit of atmosphere - just walk across the road.

"Country getaway"
A great place to stay, lovely surroundings, close to highway, but still really quiet. Unfortunately the pool & spa were under renovation during our stay - so I can't rate them. The bed was comfy. Although only a queen size - website indicated a king size. Room was a good size, with tea/coffee making some basic crockery, glassware & cutlery. Even a toaster. Corner spa bath was great. Only one complaint - one large window over the spa was frosted glass - great for privacy - however no curtain or blind. Hence the light from the hotels exterior lights shone in our room all night. And of course - awake early with the sunrise - far too early on a Sunday ! Lady at reception was very welcoming & gave plenty of information about the hotel, restaurant ( which we didn't use, so I can't comment - but I imagine the views from it would be great) and even info on eating places in the small town of Macedon.

"Nice Place to visit"
We had a wonderful overnight stay at The Cleveland - great food in the restaurant, really nice accommodation and beautiful scenery, especially with all the recent frost. Cold in the morning and the water pipes froze, but Mother Nature calls the shots with that one! We had a delightful time and will go back again.

"Comfortable and friendly"
Only 10 minutes walk to town, no meals but enough stuff in room to get by with a bit of shopping. Good firm beds, clean accommodation. Staff were the best part, couldn't have looked after us any better
