The hotel is in dire need of upgrading: carpeting is old, tv’s in rooms are tiny and have limited channel selections, lighting is poor, doors still require a key card (and they easily demagnetize!), etc. Front desk staff are only mildly knowledgeable and helpful, but our concierge (Jonathan) was great. Mama C restaurant is quite good; did not try the other one, and the rooftop patio was closed due to rain. The location of the hotel is excellent: right on St Paul with lots of shops, restaurants, and attractions within a short walk. However, Rue St Paul is currently under construction (May 2025), and Nelligan in particular was basically barricaded while we were there: hard to get in and out of, especially with luggage, and very noisy! Obviously a temporary situation, but it sure would’ve been nice of them to inform us of this when we made our reservation. It’s this kind of simple courtesy that you will likely find to be in short supply during your stay.

Though construction was blocking the street access, the staff was very quick to provide valet service, unloading and reloading our luggage. The lobby opens to the lobby of a modern Greek restaurant Mama C where the bartender made customized cocktails for us. We enjoyed the service and drinks so much we stayed for dinner which was thoroughly enjoyable. All the amenities lulled us into a happy calm after a long day walking to explore the area.
