A nice property…just beware of certain staff!

My stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites Oakland Airport-Alameda was good but the front desk clerk on the first night of my arrival was not very friendly. He only gave me one complimentary bottle of drinking water when there were two guests staying the night. I come from a hospitality background and first impressions do matter and wasn’t too impressed with this clerk’s lack of guest services skills. The management might want to retrain the staff in the Art of Guest Services. My room was clean and very spacious. Overall, I would recommend this property just watch out for some of the front desk staff. Make sure they greet you and give each person staying in the room their own bottle of drinking water.

Always reliable, this is our 7th or 8th time staying at this property when we visit grandkids on Bay Farm. Room is always clean, plenty of space, breakfast always nice options (although plain yogurt would be a plus), so we'll be back!

Upon arrival, we were checked into a room that, as we later discovered, was listed on the no-rent list — a fact that was confirmed by staff only after we reported multiple issues. Within the first ten minutes of entering the room, it became clear that neither the air conditioning nor the television were functioning. After a long 13-hour day of travel, we were exhausted and simply needed a place to rest. When we brought this to the attention of the front desk, we were informed that nothing could be done, as management was not on-site until the next morning. We were also told that they knowingly placed us in a room they could not rent out. Instead of being moved or offered a resolution, we were handed a small fan and told we could not leave or be relocated. This was our only night at the property before continuing our trip to Jawaii the next morning at 6 AM. What should have been a brief and restful stop turned into a frustrating and uncomfortable experience. We were not contacted proactively about a resolution. In fact, we had to call back ourselves — multiple times — during our vacation, just to get any form of follow-up. Each time, we were told that a manager was still unavailable. It took five full days before we finally received a return call. This situation caused significant and unnecessary stress, especially given the fact that this was our only opportunity to rest before and after long travel days.
