We chose Robert Treat by Wyndham in Newark bc of proximity and it looked fine. When we entered the lobby, it smelled so strong of marijuana and tobacco smoke. I should have said something right then. We then went up to the room. It smelled so bad we went back down to the check-in. The employees were great and accommodated us with a new room, which they allowed us to check first. It was better, only to be awakened by a family with a screaming toddler, adults that were yelling at each other and the child until the am. We told the front desk in the morning. Agan, they graciously moved us and checked the room before accepting. Then, two more nights we were kept awake by an extremely loud TV. Three days, three rooms, we gave it a try, we packed our things and told the front desk that this was unacceptable and that we wanted a full refund. We reserved this hotel on Expedia, the hotel could do nothing, and we had to deal with Expedia. We explained the situation and we received a full refund. The hotel was horrible. We will never stay there again. We had two more nights left on our trip and found a new hotel. We found out from an employee at the new hotel that the Robert Treat is used as a shelter. No one at any point explained that to us. I don't think Expedia knows this. Yes, we should have checked out on day one. We thought it would get better. It was unbelievable. I do not recommend this hotel. It was not a bargain hotel. It was an ashtray.

I booked this hotel because it was close to the prudential center for an event I was attending. Location was close enough to the prudential center and Newark Penn station which was convenient. Overall, I didn’t like the hotel and I wouldn’t book again. My room was supposed to be a non-smoking room but as soon as I walked in I was hit with the smell of cigarette smoke. Overall the experience was unpleasant. I would not stay here if I had kids!!!
