I've stayed here a few times. Every time it got worse to the point now I can no longer even feel good about the lower cost. This last time was the final straw. I arrived at my booking, I entered the room code, there was ALREADY SOMEONE SLEEPING THERE!

First night no air conditioning- sweat through the night. Hotel refused to move me to rooms that were air conditioned. Absolute no help from staff even though there were many available rooms when I asked to be moved. Made me wait 2 hours only to dismiss me when I asked how much longer it would old to move my room. Manager on duty “Steve” said he would downgrade my room, but did not offer the room difference to be refunded. Not a good experience to say the least.

Rooms were dirty, dusty, LOUD. Says that there is a $100 noise fee but the floor was loud. Women walking back and fourth , slamming doors, talking at 2am-6am. Light kept going on and off in The room. NOONE at the front desk when you needed them. Terrible 0/10

Room is essentially a closet with an army cot. I'm just 5'2" and my feel touched the wall at the end of my cot.Not enough toilets for number of guests. No elevator, no coffee even, no hand towels in the bathroom. You get 1 bath towel. Kitchen had no hot water to wash dishes and very few utensils. Screen in bathroom was broken and small bugs came in. I had 4 small bug bites (not from bed). No privacy.

Make sure to know what you're getting into.

Worst sleep of my entire trip. The pods are tiny. They have walls but no roofs, all grouped in one big room so you hear absolutely everything. The beds are tiny. I’m 5'5" and that’s basically the length of the mattress. The first night I was freezing since the bed only had a sheet. I asked for a blanket the next night - luckily they didn’t charge extra. Even with a sleep mask and earphones, I was woken up several times each night by people ignoring the silence policy, making phone calls, or slamming doors. Privacy concern: The shower area is poorly designed. There’s no proper space to undress before showering - you either do it publicly in the shared bathroom or inside the shower itself, awkwardly trying to hang your clothes and towel by stretching one arm outside to reach the hanger. Definitely not ideal. And don’t forget flip-flops. Positives: The location is great and the staff is very friendly.

Keeping in mind the price per night, this place is very good and economical. The downside is that although it is a cheap and convenient option, the dorm walls are thin and do not extend up to the ceiling — they only go halfway — which means you can easily hear other people’s cell phones, alarms, and snoring. You won’t get a good night’s sleep if that’s what you’re looking for. Moreover, in the male dorm section, there is only one washroom for the entire hall, so you may have to wait at times to use the restroom.

This is NOT a luxury hotel. It is a clean, safe, mostly quiet place to crash. The room has a bed, a couple of hooks, a small shelf, and a tiny mirror. Bathrooms and showers are communal. The hostel enforces quiet hours after nine which is appreciated for early risers. You will still hear your neighbors coming and going. Ear plugs and masks are provided to minimize noise/light if you choose. The top of the pod is open (for fire safety) so if a neighbor turns on a light, it will light up your pod slightly. Be prepared for a minimalistic experience and pack light. With all that said, I would absolutely stay here again. For the price, it was a great option to stay in Manhattan. The staff were very friendly, they will allow you to store your luggage prior to check-in, and the hostel is less than a 10 minute walk from several subway lines.

A hostel with privacy and safety. A bit noisy with slamming doors and thin walls but it's better than sharing a room. Bring ear plugs and shades. Seemed clean. There was only one toilet in my section but only had to wait once. The foam mattress had a dip from people sitting on the edge. All in all, worth the discount price from outrageous midtown hotels.
