A Centrally located area to Times Square and Columbus circle. The hotel staff were polite and accommodating. The room we stayed in had several issues including a loose sink that was mounted to the wall, a broken shampoo dispenser, the rug was lifted and separated from the transition piece to the bathroom, additionally the bathroom door was not flush to the door frame which made it hard to close. We wanted to love this hotel because of how close it was to everything. But, we were disappointed.

Typical NYC hotel room, but the hotel offers a degree of charm that chains or other refurbs don’t have. The location and accessibility to transit can’t be beat. Super close to great restaurants, Central Park, and Broadway

Don’t overpay for this property

This is (at best) a 3-Star property. The price paid was way too high for the caliber of the hotel. Location was great. No real amenities. Staff were nice and helpful.

I had mixed reactions to staying at Ameritania. When I first checked in I was given Room 302 even though I had reserved a deluxe double. The wall paper was peeling and the noise was horrible - I got no sleep. The person checking us in was also very rude - saying there was no guarantee on getting the room I booked since I booked through hotels.com. The next morning I approached the desk and spoke to a different lady (I think her name was Sihum)- saying I got no sleep and could not stay in that room. She moved me to another room (916) for the remainder of my stay, which was very acceptable and much quieter. I also had a few other interactions with the original person who signed me in and they were quite unsatisfactory. I found the other people I dealt with very friendly and helpful.

Poor accommodations

This hotel was highly rated and I have no idea why. I have stayed in many hotels around the world and this was the worst. It was incredibly tiny for the money. The room had no furniture other than the beds and a tiny desk. No dresser for clothes, only a tiny closet to hang a few things. There was no refrigerator, so we had to request one. It didn't even work very well. Everything we asked for we were told they would bring to the room so they could get a tip. The room had a lot of wasted space that could be better utilized to add furniture for more storage and comfort. We had to live out of our suitcases while there. Just a big disappointment for the money we spent.

I love the interior of the hotel. The room with the window is excellent, beautiful view. We keep running into the key card issue. Other guests the same. They need to do something about it. The shower does not covered so it splashed outside the shower as well. I love the location of it. The 3rd party parking which is citipark. Is valet parking their service was not good at all.

I don’t recommend

This place came with good ratings and I am struggling to know how. It is in need of a renovation. I hate carpet in hotels which this place had. It was dark. Staff were ok, didn’t feel all that welcomed. I was told they would text when the room was ready but it never came. The bed was small and hard. The duvet cover never made it on the duvet, it was squished at the bottom of the bed. I unfortunately cannot recommend this hotel, especially for the price we paid.

Great place to stay for theatre

We visited New York for theatre and had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is clean and comfortable, and the staff is very accommodating. The hotel is in a great location, just off Broadway a few blocks north of Times Square. We could easily walk to our show.

My boyfriend and I just came back from a weekend stay in the city. This hotel was great! The room and bathroom were nice and modern, the bed was very comfortable, and the hotel was easily accessible. I would definitely stay here in the future!

Great location, easy walking distance to many good restaurants and clubs. The doormen are friendly and very helpful and our room was large and quiet with nice decor. Bed itself is comfortable enough but the pillows are terrible. Very small and squishy. The a/c cooled intermittently and went from cool to stuffily humid very quickly so unless the thermostat is set below 74, things get uncomfortable quickly. The hot water in the bathroom sink is a mere trickle and cannot be adjusted; sink also slow to drain. Small fridge held more than we expected, which was a plus. Room was not vacuumed every day and, judging by debris on the carpet, not even every 2-3 days. The hotel elevators are rickety and unreliable. This hotel is not awful but with a few tweaks could be so much better. We like staying above Times Square and the location of the Americana can't be beat. Even so, we probably won't stay here again.
