This property is very tired. Terazzo shower floor is broken up. The bathroom door swollen from humidity, with mold in the ceiling. Wall paper is peeling off, the a/c is super loud. White sheets and towels are actually grayed out and didn’t smell fresh. The room was not ready until exactly 3pm. The double queen room is so small that you cannot open a luggage. Both maintenance and cleaning team quickly responded to broken fixture and missing towels. The reception team was very courteous. Easy access to Central Park, and subway station..

Pros: A nice hotel away from the crowds. Great location, comfortable room. Con: they charge a “residence fee” per night which is not included in the price they show online. I know lots of hotels in NYC are doing this, like charging “resort fees”. Such dishonest baloney. Makes it impossible to budget hotel costs.

We liked the free water bottles, the location, having an attachment on hair dryer, and having an extra sofa bed. We didn't like the dusty old carpet corners, dust on sofa bed cracks, small crowded pool that you had to walk past a dining area to find, and the rusted hinge on bathroom door that broke.

The staff was excellent, right in the heart of Manhattan where you can reach a lot of what is great about NYC. The rooftop deck is pretty cool. Not gna lie about the room though, it smelled funky, the curtains did not open, the carpet was rather worn, and overall not the best room.Good for young solo travelers but if you got the family maybe consider spending more on a better hotel.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this property—unquestionably the worst I’ve stayed at to date. Many of the issues raised in other negative reviews proved accurate, including poor overall maintenance, malfunctioning air conditioning, and strong, unpleasant odors throughout the premises. The first room we were given had a non-functioning AC unit, broken curtains (some obstructing the only airflow source), and an extremely uncomfortable pull-out sofa bed—so thin and worn it was essentially unusable for an adult. The flooring creaked loudly with every step, chairs were chipped, and the in-room phone produced constant static unless the cord was manipulated. The replacement room we received after complaining was no better—the AC simply circulated warm air without cooling the space, and the noise level when it ran was incredibly disruptive. Given the unacceptable conditions, we ultimately requested a refund. Fortunately, we were only charged for part of the first night, and the rest was refunded through Expedia with the property's cooperation. During our time at the hotel, I witnessed several other guests expressing similar frustrations at the front desk, ranging from leaks to complete lack of AC in sweltering heat. It was frustrating to see so many people experiencing the same level of discomfort, especially given the high cost of staying here. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone and will actively advise against it for future travelers to the area

The Empire Hotel is in a great location close to the Lincoln Center and Central Park. The hotel is quite large and busy, especially with children. Sound insulation isn’t the best - you often heart doors slam and children crying. The air conditioning is noisy too. Rooms are adequate. It feels like it’s fading a bit. Regardless, very nice and friendly staff, well located, and comparatively reasonably priced for the offer. Worth considering.

I was happy with my stay but i did smell something in the bathroom just like it wasn’t washed right , I didn’t wanna complain to move so I just stayed with it , other then that staff is very nice ‘
