Excellent Staff

The staff here was amazing - everyone was super helpful. I want to specifically thank Joseph, at the front desk, for getting us a restaurant reservation (neither of us speak Japanese, and this restaurant would have been impossible for us without Joseph's help!). The room was smaller than expected based on the photography, but it was fine. Overall, the breakfast and the comfort-level of the room made this hotel seem expensive compared to others we stayed in while in Japan, but it may just be that Kyoto is expensive. It's possible that the onsen here is part of what you're paying for, and we just weren't interested in that for this part of our trip. Location is excellent.

The property is ok for what you pay, but be aware that a room on the front of the building facing the main road gets a lot of traffic noise, particularly at night. There is also an issue with the property only having two elevators (and one of those was not working on one of the days of our stay). The wait time was long and the lift very crowded as it stops at each floor. On a couple of occasions it was easier to take the stairs. Breakfast was ok, but not 4 star level. We had a meal from the restaurant as a take away in our room one night when we returned later and it was completely cold. Staff were great, no issues there.

Love this place! Nicely located all walkable distance to the major sites. Such a friendly staff, luck in front desk, Madhu in the restaurant and ms.Kaoru in the restaurant in particular I remember proving excellent service. Kudos to the chef for amazing food and the rest of the staff. Overall, very satisfied with the hotel facility and the stafff. Will come back here again next time we visit Kyoto.

One of the staff who worked at front desk, i think his name is Sagar, he helped me out when my luggage wasnt delivered from toyo, i received 3 lugagges and was missing one, i asked him to helped me to call Yamato and follow up for me, he called and even made sure that the luggage was delivered to my room when it arrived. Very small room and the configuration of the toilet ,bath and basin was the weirdest I have seen in my many years of travel .Not a peg in the shower/bath to hang the towel.Makes it extremely hard for friends travelling together .
