Really disappointing overall. I stayed in a beautiful looking cottage and the first night was great. Then sewage backed up into the shower drain along with hot water which was bubbling up for hours while I was out of the room. I had to walk through raw sewage /human waste to get to my things since it flooded the entire bathroom. I notified the hotel staff who put me in a much smaller room which was poorly equipped and a significant downgrade. I message the property owner through Expedia and Expedia since I booked through them (not that I wanted to but I couldn’t get the direct website to work) and no reply. It wasn’t until I texted the owner directly after my stay that I even got a response. He clearly had no intention of doing anything to remedy the issue. No refund was being issued, no apology that my room flooded with sewage… nothing. Wow. Any competent hotel owner would have upgraded the guest and refunded at least part of the stay immediately without me having to ask. The cottage owner responded to my text by calling me and proceeded to yell at me for several minutes. The people next to me looked on in disbelief as they heard what he said about the room backing up with human waste… and still yelled at me like it was my fault and that it was definitely my problem. He screamed even more and demanded to know what I wanted done about it?!??? Wow… he said he would refund less than 25% of my stay just to shut me up…. I followed up with Expedia because wow. That was awful

I enjoyed that is was chill and quiet, and the beach was within walking distance. The room could use some upgrades, some things like the outlet covers were loose, the back screen door did not move smoothly, the lanai railing was loose and not connected at the bottom, and the shower curtain did not contain the water from the shower, so water ended up getting onto the floor in the bathroom. This type of shower really needs a solid glass door/wall to keep the water from going everywhere.

I really liked my stay at Aaron's cottage on the Big Island in Hilo. The cottage was clean, and perfect just for me. I visit my son Reg, I will definitely stay at Aaron's cottage again. I like that they had an open kitchen Should you desire to cook a meal.

While the accommodations themselves were good, my stay was overshadowed by a disturbing incident. I had to call the police after a domestic situation nearly escalated into violence in the room next to mine. It was a frightening experience, and I’m grateful for the swift response from ownership & authorities. However, this left me feeling unsafe and shaken. I sincerely hope future guests have a more peaceful experience!

My parents and I rented the cottage for four nights. This was absolutely perfect for our needs and we slept really well. We were able to park our rental car with no problem and the area is loaded with things to see, and do. Restaurants nearby, as well as shopping in town. Many of our stops were 3 to 7 minutes away from the property. This is a much better location than staying up by Volcano. Under 10 minutes to the airport but noise wasn't an issue. Staff was super friendly and flexible to meet our needs. Definitely would recommend to those in a small group that don't want to be separated by rooms in a hotel.

The property was simple and had everything we needed. Units are clean. Ws not aware the kitchen was shared with another unit but it was ok. We were respectful of each other. Good experience, conveniently located, tropical setting. Very Big Island!

Good price and clean

Good price and clean. Disappointed that there was no place to sit and work on my computer. No desk or table to sit at and work. Note that this cottage is right under the flight path of and right next to the Hilo airport. So if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs.
