The room although we loved that it was quiet showed unfortunately a lot of wear and tear. The wooden cabinets in the bathroom were damaged pretty badly not only in our room but also in the second room we booked for our friends and The tray for the toiletries was dirty. Our doorframe missed a little chuck of wood close to the doorhandle. I found several pieces of hair in the bathtub on our clean towels and the countertop. We noticed several areas in our room with a layer of dust so not sure if they just did not clean our room well or did not have time enough to do a good job. The facilities and restaurant were good and nicely decorated. Breakfast was good and staff was friendly.

The Grand Hotel was pleasant enough but the restaurant was middling at best and pricey given the fare offered. Recommend eating at the restaurant at El Tavor Lodge in the NP but you will need to get reservations. The Grand Hotel not our first choice but the NPS hotel was fully booked.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The fireplace has a fire going all day and gives a cozy and inviting feeling when you choose to hang out in the lobby.

Avoid the restaurant and lounge,

all staff were incredible, with the exception of the dining room/lounge. No one told us we needed reservations for the mostly empty dining room. We were seated in the lounge (party of 3) and told we could only have two menus. Ordered bowls of chile and a salad. After 50 minutes we asked the waitress, who never checked on us, where our food was. We were told that they ran out of chili and were making more. Really they can make chili that fast? 1 hour and 10 minutes later we were served ice cold chili. Then Luke warm chili. The dining room manager and the waitress were then involved. He was an absolute idiot, she was not much better. Great place if you eat somewhere else.
