So what’s new, Delhi? We’re sorry—we couldn’t resist. Sandwiched between South West, Central, East and South Delhi, this municipality of Delhi came of age under British rule. Its curious combination of striking old-world temples and more modern locales make it a fantastic place to visit. Book one of Wotif’s cheap flights to New Delhi and have plenty of rupees left over for that food tour you’re going to take.
New Delhi’s public transport is pretty sweet, if we do say so ourselves (and we do). Count on the Delhi Metro to get you around, along with buses and a great taxi system. If you want to feel even more authentic, snag an auto rickshaw. Don’t forget to snap a selfie of yourself next to it.
If you’re on one of the flights to New Delhi that lands in the morning, greet the day at Swaminarayan Akshardham. This temple complex is just gorgeous. The temple itself looks like it belongs in an Indiana Jones movie, and wait until you see the water show.
Touching down in the afternoon? Spend some quality time souvenir-hunting at Paharganj Bazaar. Pick up jewellery for Mum or a rug to tie your office together.
Should your flight arrive at night, don’t waste any time—just drop your bags at one of Wotif’s hotels in New Delhi and join a food tour. Sure, you’ve tried curry, but think about the savoury kabobs, flaky paranthas and momos (dumplings) waiting for you. Actually, don’t think. Just eat.
You’ve gained peace at the temples and wolfed down the kabobs. What next? Try the hookah, of course! Get to know the residents over tasty snacks while a sweetly-scented sheesha wafts across the room.
You’ve got the itinerary. You’ve got the camera. Now all you have to do is book airfares to New Delhi through Wotif and start seeing the savings roll in. Keep that money in your pocket for better stuff—like a cookbook for your mates back home!
