We visited Delhi during December 2024. We had heard a lot about LaLit and wanted to try this out. Usually we prefer staying at different hotel chain. Property location is excellent. We arrived late on Dec 29th. Upon completing the check-in process, trying to get to our rooms, the cards did not work at the elevator and we had to get back to reception again. Further, the worst experience was that upon reaching our rooms, to our greatest surprise we found that these were already assigned to others guests! In fact in one room, the guest was taken by surprise and looked stunned. This is certainly unacceptable. While the hotel staff apologized for this error (supposedly due to a new staff at the reception), to our surprise there was no reasonable compensation than a mere 'sorry'. A competing hotel chain would have bent over backwards to make us feel better. Other observations - rooms did not have towels upon checkin, the room phone in one of the rooms suddenly stopped working, the sink in one of the rooms was clogged. All these are something not expected of a 5-star hotel chain. The saving grace - breakfast was great.

Most of the visitors feel they are 'entitled' and lack manners generally. The hotel staff tries their best to make all guests feel comfortable and valued however, the fact that some guests can shout at hotel staff, behave as if they own the place is a general problem we found in Delhi. There were moments when hotel staff could have prevented these individuals to not let them jump the queue or demonstrate similar behaviour as this doesn't seem a one-off occurance. Overall stay and experience of the hotel is lovely but way below par for a 5-star hotel
