This was an impromptu stay and the staff went above and beyond to help us find a room and settle into our visit quickly. Everyone is lovely and a special shoutout to Amelia and Beth! Such a beautiful hotel and very relaxing. All the little details are taken care of. Will definitely stay again!

5 star hotel and lived up to expectation. From the exceptional staff and service provided to the wonderfully decorated rooms. Would never look at another hotel when we are back in York. A thoroughly fabulous experience

The Hotel was a very good standard as expected being listed as a 5 Star, however the breakfast experience was awful with a general lack of food on display as the trays had not been replenished enough, no cereal dishes left for use on the continental breakfast tables so guests just waiting around...It appeared as a commercial first come first served free for all, not great and nowhere near worth £ 25 per head. The Hotel did act in good faith by asking and listening to these concerns and recognised this issue with a refund. However overall an underwhelming experience which cost over £600 across a 2 night stay, nowhere near a 5 Star experience which did spoil our special vacation to York.

First Class Hotel!

This is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. Had a room in a new part of the hotel (260) .. very clean and spacious with a large and comfortable bed. Straightforward aircon/heat management, which warmed the room up well as needed. Excellent breakfast. Could not fault any member of staff ... service was excellent.

A beautifully converted and impressive historic building with very comfortable rooms, and excellent and friendly service. We were well taken care of, and the reception staff in particular were efficient, friendly and very helpful.

Gorgeous Grand

Our stay at The Grand was lovely, we hadn’t been to York for a few years but the standard of the hotel hasn’t changed. For us it is the only place to stay in York with an excellent location for the city and station of arriving by train. The staff are so welcoming and special mention to Wayne at the entrance he is a credit to the hotel, so welcoming to everyone! Our room was gorgeous and very clean and very quiet at night. Overall a lovely stay and we will stay agin next time we are in York!

I asked to stay in the modern part of the hotel and quiet and it was granted so we appreciate it. We had a nice stay, liked the room and hotel location. We tried some breakfast items which were not very high quality and felt overpriced.

Grand Hotel York

Visited for our 32nd wedding anniversary and was not disappointed. Booked a classic double room but when we arrived were informed that they upgraded us to an executive room which was really large and immaculately prepared. We had use of the spa facilities if needed for additional cost but free use of the swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna for 1 hour per day which made for a relaxing time after a long walk around York. Breakfast was really nice with a large choice of continental and cooked items. Our morning waitress, Millie, was extremely helpful with all of our requests especially with regard to help with the afternoon tea menu.

Wonderful York stay

Our second stay at the Grand and will come back. The surroundings are superb, lovely bedroom and palatial bathroom. Staff very attentive. Breakfast choice excellent. Location perfect for arrival by train and also for visiting the city.
