Staff were very welcoming. Rooms were fine - clean, shower good. Squeaky floor boards & soft bed but what do you expect - it's not a chain hotel. Tasty breakfast. Parking out the back a little tight but its free! But this is really nitpicking. I'd book it again if in York again.

We had a pleasant stay at Wheatlands Lodge, located just a 15 minute walk from both York city centre and the train station. Set in a quiet residential area which was nice to come back to after wandering all day. Our room was very clean and comfortable, with a closet, makeup table, and a coffee and tea station. Even though we were only there for two nights, the room was still serviced, which was a nice surprise. Breakfast and dinner are served on the main floor, though we only had breakfast during our stay. There was a good variety of hot and cold options, with starters, main dishes, juices, tea, and coffee. The service was great with the full house. The hotel also has a bar and lounge area, plus a spacious front garden where you can relax. We also enjoyed a visit to the movie theater just a few minutes away—great prices, a wide variety of food and drink options, and cozy seating. There's also a convenience store nearby, which we are always finding in our travels. I would definitely stay here again.

An amazing stay from start to finish. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. It was like home from home. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. The bedrooms were nice and big and the bathrooms were equipped with everything for a great stay. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. There was a great bar there and the garden outside was nice to sit in too. The breakfast menu was fab and had a lot of choices including for vegans. I didn't try the evening meal menu which looked great as it was fully booked during my stay which is a testament to the quality of the food there. I would definitely stay there again and can't recommend it highly enough.

Parking is a nightmare at this hotel. Our car was blocked in every night. On check in we were told to book by 4pm if we wanted dinner in the hotel. On the second day of our stay I tried to book at midday only to be told that dinner was fully booked. Asked the Receptionist if we could have a sandwich only to be told they don't do sandwiches after 4pm! She suggested 2 places we could eat which were a 20 minute walk in the rain as I couldn't get the car out. After walking in the rain the place she suggested was not serving food that day. If a 60 room hotel is unable to make a couple of sandwiches to save two 70 year olds from getting wet through then that is a poor job!

i enjoyed my stay the only thing i was not to happy about was there was no lift and i have a job walking up stairs and we were on the second floor ,even my daughter had a job getting the case up and down the stairs

Wheatlands Lodge is a family run Hotel. The care and detai to making ltheir customers comfortable is very evident. The Hotel's decor and fittings fit sympathetically with the architecture and period of the building. The staff that we had contact with were all very polite and helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel to anyone

A nice place to stay

This is a nice hotel in good location. They have free parking and that is a plus. The host works very hard to see that you have a good stay. The breakfast area is rather busy with a fixed breakfast that is not self serve.. As in many of these stately hotels in England, you have to struggle up three flights of stairs with your luggage as there is no lift. I think it is some kind of law in England about what you can and cannot do with your hotel but I don't know. If you have any mobility issue you better check with the hotel before you book.

Fabulous stay at Wheatlands Lodge. Every single member of the team were professional, friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately on arrival our allocated room didn’t match our expectations and we were moved to an alternative room without a problem. The hotel is approximately 20 minutes walk from the train station. As it is located outside the centre it is extremely quiet. The room was well equipped and spacious. Breakfast was excellent as were the waiting staff. The on site bar was a welcome addition. It was a very relaxing stay and I would recommend it. My only negative was the pillows but I’m very fussy about pillows! There are a lot of stairs and no lift so if you have a mobility problem it would be advisable to book a ground floor room.

On arrival the staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was excellent. The room was comfortable, modern and very clean. The bed was very comfortable too, i had 2 great nights sleep. Parking was tricky, but the staff went above and beyond to get us a spot. The only 'dislike" was the shower/bath. It was very high and a little worrying getting out as there was no grab rail to help. Other than that 10/10

We were welcomed by very friendly staff, everything was explained including car parking. Breakfast and dinner were superb. During our four night stay staff were very helpful and attentive, we would definitely return and would recommend this hotel.
