Accommodation In Dongguan

The Guangdong Province is home to many splendid cities and towns. Zhuhai, Huizhou and Maoming are all great, but wait until you see Dongguan! Check out one of the biggest and emptiest shopping malls on the planet, then learn about why a drug war is so important in Chinese history. Search through our amazing selection on deals for Dongguan holidays and book one today.

Things to Do in Dongguan

One of the reasons you go on holiday is to experience something different. Like walking around New South China Mall…which, despite being almost deserted, remains open. Over 2000 empty retail spaces make this spot a virtual ghost town, but it’s a great place for urban exploring. You may not see anybody as you walk from one end to the other, but the replicas of the Sphinx and Arc de Triomphe are hard to miss. Photo op, anyone?

When you’re done not shopping, you won’t have to ditch any bags at your Dongguan accommodation, so head to Humen Town. What’s there? The Opium War Museum, which you have to see. This place showcases many historic relics related to Lin Zexu, a famous politician and poet who was instrumental in opposing the opium trade.

Getting to & Around Dongguan

Like many other cities in Guangdong Province, your trip will begin when you land at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN), 82 km from downtown. You can take a shuttle bus or taxi straight to any of our Dongguan hotels. Generally, taxis are a great way to get around the city because they’re quick and easy. Be sure to use the green ones, as they are the only licensed cabs. If you want to take advantage of our deals on Hong Kong hotels, take a short train ride from Dongguan to Hung Hom Station in Kowloon.

It’s always nice to visit a place that isn’t usually on people’s minds when it comes to travelling. You have better stories to tell when you get home. Browse Wotif’s incredible offers on hotels in Dongguan and get off the grid. Well, not really—this city is a huge grid—but you get the picture.
