Hotel not too bad and all staff very good, friendly and helpful but had to take a refund and go to a premier inn as even though the Aircon was completely turned off kept making a grinding noise and making nasty smells all afternoon and early evening stopping us from sleeping. As it was fully booked the only other room available was an accessible rooms which wasn't suitable and smelt funny so we unfortunately had to leave after the manager had tried to resolve it but failed.

No air conditioning but charged full price

The primary reason I selected this hotel—despite the higher cost compared to other options—was the advertised availability of air conditioning, which is an essential comfort for me. Unfortunately, the air conditioning in my room was not working throughout my stay. I reported the issue to reception on the first day, but no one attended to it. I raised the issue again on the second day and was only provided with a fan, which was an inadequate substitute given the room conditions. This experience was disappointing and did not align with the expectations set by your brand. I effectively paid a premium for a service that was unavailable. Had I known the air conditioning would not be functional, I could have chosen a more affordable hotel without such amenities.

Check-in was efficient. First impressions of room was OK. Discovered could only watch BBC 1 & 2 on tv. Breakfast was quite basic. Some items not available. We stayed 3 nights, on 3rd day our room was visited by housekeeping (perhaps we should have left note on door handle) , we were left with a single towel! On our final morning we discovered we had no cold water! Reported TV and water issues to reception on check out

The bed was fine for one night and the shower was good. However, the sink in the bathroom smelt of sewage when the water was run.

Check-in was swift, polite and no issues with my late evening arrival. The room - clean, tidy, a nice towel swan on the bed was a lovely touch. Nice signalling about being sustainable. Only complaint - conditioner please - girls need conditioner as well as shampoo. Loved the body wash and shampoo was separate. Parking really easy to park and locate - would be nice to have an EV charger for all cars given more and more cars are hybrid/electric (like mine). Really impressed with the GF options, the GF only bread and toaster - thankyou. This was really great to see have have and put my food allergies at ease for breakfast.

We were very impressed with the Holiday Inn Express. Particularly with the customer service we received from Duty Manager Chico. The TV in our room didn’t work properly. He replaced the arial, then the TV - neither helped so offered to change our room. However there were none available with a super king bed and so we declined. He therefore arranged a discount for us. Everything else about our room was great. Clean, well equipped, comfortable. All staff we came in contact with were polite, friendly and well trained. We will definitely stay again when in the area. Breakfast was excellent and very generous too!
