"Convenient and comforts "
Check in was easy as we were given the code for the front door, actually situated on the side, via text message. We didn't actually meet any staff which was not an issue for us as we knew where we wanted to go but if you were not familiar with Ballarat there was no one to ask. the room was large enough and comfortable with a microwave, toaster, tea and coffee facilities, cups, cutlery, plates and bowls.

Ansonia on Lydiard

"Great hotel with history in its bones."
Enjoyed a brief stay at this hotel full of character. It's an old stable block and that becomes obvious shortly after entering the front door. It gives the entrance hall a real feel of old Ballarat. The room was beautiful to look at and extremely well appointed and comfortable. The staff all incredibly friendly. Felt very at home.

The Provincial Ballarat - Ballarat Hotels

The Provincial Ballarat

121 Lydiard Street North, Ballarat - Map
"Very comfortable hotel. Very new, good food."
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel. It had been refurbished earlier in the year and it did have a very new feeling to it. The suite I had was large and comfortable and everything worked, which was somewhat unexpected. The bed was a bit too soft for my taste, but that is picky and I prefer a very firm bed - not much of a complaint I admit. There was a loop of wiring hanging from the ceiling in one room (about 6 inches) and you had to look for it. The rooms had a vary high (4m+) ceiling which added to the spaciousness of the suite and is something I particularly appreciate. Restaurant service was excellent , as were all the staff, with a good menu and wine list. The food was exceptional in my opinion, the staff friendly and accommodating. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend the Provincial to anyone travelling to Ballarat. An extremely good hotel. 4.75/5/

We also have a range of holiday parks and campsites that are the perfect place for families.

From spectacular Victorian architecture to wide tree lined streets, Ballarat is a living legacy to Victoria’s gold rush past and Victorian heritage. To really capture the essence of Ballarat it is recommended that you wander down one the Australia’s finest Victorian streetscapes, Lydiard Street. From there you have the choice of a myriad of heritage buildings including Her Majesty's Theatre which was constructed in 1875 and Craig's Royal Hotel, otherwise know as 'the pride of Ballarat' by none other than Mark Twain.

From our Ballarat accommodation, visitors have the opportunity to delve into Australia’s past and investigate the events surrounding Australia's only civil uprising, the Eureka Rebellion. For those with a passion for Australian history, the Museum of Australian Democracy is a must. Built on the site of the Eureka Rebellion, M.A.D.E provides visitors with a chance to interpret and reflect on the events of 1854. Featuring interactive exhibits, education spaces, a display gallery for the Eureka Flag, theatre, café and gift shop, this museum is a great way to spend a couple of hours. The Eureka story can be explored further by visiting the Mining Exchange, which was built on the site Government troops were gathered before storming the Eureka Stockade.

For a bit of culture stop by the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery, regional Australia's oldest and largest public art collection. The gallery is also the home of one of Australia’s most important historical relics, the Eureka Flag, which represents an integral part of the Eureka story.
