If a breath of fresh air in order to recharge the batteries is on the cards, this is the spot for you. The South Coast is made up of winding coastlines, beautiful forests, quaint countryside and lively towns. And our NSW South Coast hotels will provide you with a range of options to suit your budget and ensure that you have an amazing time.
This rural coastal area has long been home to cattle stations and cheese factories. It's also seen a gold rush and a number of transformations over the past 150 or so years. These days, the region is also a mellow hangout spot for creative souls and cafe crawlers but history buffs will love visiting the colonial buildings in Pambula
, as well as the Bega Cheese Heritage Centre in Bega
Things to do
There's loads to see and do on the South Coast, from the Birdland Animal Park
in Batemans Bay
to the Jamberoo fun park just near Kiama
You won't be short of activities, with golf, hiking, surfing and whale watching on offer. Montague Island, located in Batemans Marine Park, is home to colonies of penguins and seals and is perfect for whale watching from September to November.
Visit any one of the flourishing South Coast towns and you'll be able to indulge in the local scene with a range of cultural festivals and markets showcasing local music, arts and crafts.
This region is fast becoming a serious foodie destination with plenty of options to keep you fuelled up with loads of fresh seafood and, of course, delicious Bega
cheese. There are a few award-winning vineyards popping up around the place too, so you can experiment with the perfect wine and cheese combinations.
Getting here and around
Depending on which part of the coast you're planning on visiting, you have a couple of flight options. The northern end of the coast (the Kiama end) is only about an hour and a half from Sydney Airport
and these cheap flights to Sydney
will get you there for less. On the other hand, the central and southern part of the coast is best served by the Canberra Airport
and we've got these great flights to Canberra
to get you on your way. Once you've arrived, you can get around fairly easily on public buses, but a hire car will definitely give you more freedom to really explore the whole coast.
So wot are you waiting for? Book your NSW South Coast accommodation with us now and get ready to enjoy the best of both worlds – a relaxing rural holiday and an exciting beach getaway all rolled into one!
