Really nice stay

Stayed in a suite, which was really good. Nicely decorated, large, clean, well provisioned. Only downside is that the lights that run along the steps up to the bed are both very bright and motion censored, so if one of you gets up for a wee, it’s going to wake up the other. Understand why it’s there but needs to be MUCH dimmer

Check in was fine but the bed had brown marks on the the cover blanket in about 5 places, a mark on the top sheet and what looked like popcorn under the bed. Asked for the bed cover to be removed which took over 2 hours to be done so decided.to leave the room. On checking out no one enquired as to how then stay was as gentleman on front desk was more interested in lap top. Won't stay again as poor cleanliness and customer service low. No offer to adress the issue or make up for poor quality.

Checking in very easy and extremely friendly room very modern and comfortable only drawback room was at front of hotel and very noisey in early hours with people shouting and screaming. But on the wjole very good 5 mins from train and 5 mins walk into center would recommend

This is from a couple in their 80s but perfectly mobile! Really badly designed and equipped main room (no.107) and bathroom. Very uncomfortable hard setter and only one chair! Bathtub no handle grips. No hooks for pyjamas, bathroom and adequate surfaces to place washbags. When urinating into the toilet bowl by a male you could not see one’s pee because the light was behind one. The light went off very quickly to plunge a sitter on the toilet into scary darkness - nowhere was it explained that waving one’s arms about brings the light back. The shower water pressure was poor, it was hard to get wet. The shampoo/gel dispensers were difficult to use to get enough out. Front desk not that knowledgeable and could not help ordering newspapers or say where to get them. Daily rates truly exorbitant value. Not everything was bad: Breakfast staff very pleasant and good buffet. Restaurant staff, e.g. Nathan, very nice. Unlikely to want to stay here again!

Comfortable clean rooms and the breakfast was great. Easy walk from the train sat and into town. Didn’t like the automatic lights that come on in the bathroom that are disturbing to your partner in the bedroom if you get up in the night.

This is a very presentable property, but it was overly designed, IMO. For example, the room was painted all black, including the bathroom. But one problem with that is that you have to get your lighting right. My wife complained that there was insufficient light for her to get ready in the mornings. The hotel employee she spoke to said that they had had two similar complaints from two other women the very same day. As a man, I was bothered by the peculiar indoor use of motion detected light, which resulted in various lights automatically coming on when getting up through the night. With a little more thought to their lighting plan, this otherwise very presentable hotel would be a lot less irritating. Otherwise it is centrally located, within a very short walking distance of York Minister.
