Wuxi, part of the Chinese Jiangsu Province, is an ideal holiday destination, with its lush rolling hills, crystal clear waters and beautifully developed urban city. From one of our Wuxi hotels, you'll be able to explore this unique city, often referred to as "The Land of Fish and Rice".
The main attraction in Wuxi is Tai Lake, which is a great place for a boat cruise. While you're on the boat, you will most likely have the opportunity to indulge in the local delicacy, "Taihu Lake Three Whites", which is made up of whitebait, white prawns and whitefish, caught fresh from the lake you'll be bobbing up and down on. Your boat tour will then, no doubt, stop off at Turtle Head Islet, said to be the most scenic spot on the whole lake. This beautiful islet offers plenty of photo opportunities, as it looks just like a turtle poking its head out of the water, and its natural beauty is enhanced with gorgeous gardens to explore. If you really want to see a spectacular garden, though, make sure you head to the Plum Blossom Garden, where you'll snap plenty more beautiful photos.
If you're keen to keep active during your holiday, you can hike through the Huishan Mountain National Forest Park, where you'll visit an artificial lake, as well as the historic Dragon Light Pagoda. In fact, Wuxi is rich in heritage, with many ancient legendary Chinese figures arising from this area, over its 3,000 year history. So, many of the attractions are steeped in ancient history, including Li Garden, which was named after Fan Li, an official government advisor, some 2,500 years ago. Wuxi is also on the banks of two other historic landmarks: the Grand Canal, the world's oldest and longest canal, and the Yangtze, Asia’s longest river.
The best way to get here is to catch one of these cheap flights to Changzhou, which is about 70km away. From Changzhou, you can catch a train to Wuxi and, once you're here, it's easy to get around by bus. You can also jump aboard a train and take the 130km journey to Shanghai, where you'll shop to your heart's content and explore numerous iconic temples. Alternatively, you could fly to Shanghai first and then catch a train to Wuxi. Another interesting nearby region to visit is Yixing, which is 80km east of Wuxi and is home to the famous "Sea of Bamboo".
Don't forget to book your flights and Wuxi accommodation with us, so you can start your lakeside adventure in China.
