We had a wonderful stay here. The room, overlooking the ocean, was immaculate and smelled so nice. We got to the hotel at 11:00 am, much earlier than the check in time. They gave us a parking tag and allowed us to use the bathroom to change so that we could spend the day on the beach and at the pool while waiting for our room to be ready. The beds were very comfortable, as was the large side chair in the room. We also had a dining table with seating for 4 and kitchenette stocked with plates, silverware, pots, dish cleaning supplies, and paper towels. The bathroom was very small but the water pressure in the shower was amazing. We spent a lot of time on the balcony watching the surfers. Will definitely book this hotel again!

I highly recommend Maui’s and Waterman’s. Everything was within walking distance even for older population. Matt, at the front desk, was fabulous! He was professional and extremely helpful with many questions! Housekeeping folks were efficient and kept my room picked up and clean. The Schooner was the last hotel on the boardwalk. I felt very safe and the grandchildren loved having the park and ocean right there! Great birthday trip!!

The hotel rooms were very clean and pleasant. The hotel doesn't look very nice from the outside, but it's quite clean and pleasant. There are many shops and restaurants nearby, which makes it very pleasant. The beach is right across the street. The only downside was that I booked an oceanfront room, so I arrived very early to make sure. It wasn't check-in time yet, so the lady in charge told me she'd call me as soon as the room was ready. But that didn't happen. I came back to find out all the rooms had already been booked. They couldn't help us because they told me that since I had booked through Expedia, I'd have to speak with Expedia for them to resolve the issue, which I found ridiculous. It was truly frustrating and sad, and I won't be returning to this hotel, even though it's very nice.

I liked the ocean view room but there were minor things wrong with the room. My main concern was that the door wouldn't latch to use the dead bolt and you had to slam it to get it to shut. The staff was amazing and attentive so no complaints there. It was a good location, at the start of the boardwalk.

We come down every year. Overall we are happy with the property. The beach is always crowded. This year halfway through our stay they started to build a huge platform on the beach right in front of Schooner Inn. Started work at 7am starting Tuesday until we left on Friday. Weed smokers are common despite the no smoking signs in the rooms. But we like the Schooner INn

VA Beach revisited

This was our first time in many years staying at VA Beach and first time at Schooner. It’s the furthest south on the beach. The balcony view was great but no beach chairs or umbrellas to use or rent. Also wrong pw listed for wifi and wrong number to call front desk listed in welcome material. Beach super clean and not crowded. Not much around at this end of boardwalk. Still enjoyed our stay.

Last minute gem

I had to book a last minute trip to Virginia Beach (I know, middle of the summer, crazy!). I was looking for a place close to my son that was both affordable but meets my level of expectation for a comfortable amd enjoyable stay. After looking throigh several reviews, I decided on Schooner in, crossed my fingers, and said a little prayer. Coming from the north, ita the last property on the beach front strip, perfect for.me because it was closest to my sons. The beach was steps away, there was a great park for kids, you can watch fishermen throwing their nets, and restaurants/attractions are still within walking distance (tested this and walked to the other end of the boardwalk in about 30-ish minutes). The Inn has good parking (free with your stay) and a pool out front. Check-in was quick, I was in my room within 10 minutes. The room was very clean, linens fresh and new, beds were comfy, and pillows were plentiful and fluffy. The balcony was a nice touch, my view was to the bay but it was still a lovely view. Water pressure was good, hot water was hot, and they provide quality basic toiletries. Towels were plentiful, clean, and a good size (not flimsy). The room also had a microwave, mini fridge, iron, and ironing board for your convenience. All in all, I'd absolutely stay again.
