A great location, very close to Shimbashi Station. Rooms are the typical size for a Japanese business hotel and were very clean. I was compelled to leave a review, because even by Japan's standards (where I can't think of any hotel where I've received poor service), the customer service was amazing. I can get by with Japanese if it's just checking into a hotel, but there were staff on hand that spoke English and they had a sign at the front showing the variety of other languages that they could help you in. I arrived a couple hours before check-in and my room wasn't ready yet, but they held my suitcase for me and when I returned later that evening, everything was ready to go for my check-in and they offered to help me at the desk, even though there's multilingual self check-in machines (which I would've been happy to use). Check-in was a breeze and my suitcase was already in my room for me.

The only thing that’s good is the location of the hotel is very good. Walking to subway is 2 minutes. They give breakfast but the 2 restaurants that you can use the vouchers are both horrible. The first restaurant which is the Japanese restaurant attached to the hotel itself, it’s very dirty. The floor is so sticky and you smell washroom smell the whole time. There’s only 1 staff and only if the door bell ring will he come out to serve you. Service is very minimal. The other restaurant serving western breakfast is even worst no service at all; cause they simply don’t acknowledge you came in and wouldn’t even come to answer your question or serve you. We failed to used our voucher there as we stand at the desk the staff saw us but wouldn’t even came to serve or speak to us. We ended up have to go to family mart, good thing family mart can use the vouchers too. Overall the hotel room smell the washroom smell, not so pleasant.

Disappointed

This is the third Sotetsu hotel we've stayed at and the most disappointing. Despite booking a non smoking room we were assigned a smoking room or what we suspect is a repurposed smoking to non smoking room. This really dampened our experience, we arrived tired and hungry so didn't fully realize the extent until we arrived back in the room the next day. All interaction is with a machine. The staff are friendly but don't fully listen to any request and just point you to the machine. The room itself is standard, a bit run down. They were renovating one of the floors. Our room faced the train tracks which you could hear during operating hrs. The aircon unit leaked liquid and unfortunately our clothes were below it. We had breakfast which was at the ootoya restaurant next to reception, this included a standard Japanese set which typically had grilled fish. We wouldn't stay here again due to our experience however Shimbashi is a great place to base yourself.

Reception not on ground floor so a bit of a faff. Also we actually stayed in a second tower, known as the annex, around the corner from the main hotel so additional faff!

Easy use of convenience store in lobby, sound proof windows from train station. Minutes from metro and lots of food options nearby. I would stay here again it was comfortable.

My review on this hotel might be rigged but I’ll try to be as objective as possible. The hotel staff is super nice, the check in and out was very easy, but for some reason we were booked for a smokers room. Which we’re not. This really tainted the stay for us. We room reeked of tobacco, which is understandable, but it made everything feel a little dirty. The shower walls were stained with nicotine, the bed smelled of tobacco… We also didn’t complain as we would only be staying for two nights, but the smell truly was unbearable. I checked the reservation and didn’t find a reason as to why we were located in that type of room, as we didn’t request it. All this to say, it is a good, cheap stay, just make sure to get a non-smokers room if you don’t smoke. I still wouldn’t rule it out, I just learned my lesson about smokers rooms!
