I booked through Hotels.com. We arrived at 9:30pm to check in after a long day of travel and upon walking into the room, were slapped in the face with the almost unbearable smell of mold/mildew. We immediately went to reception who told us this was her last available room. After a few minutes of debating we decided we didn’t want to load the kids and our items all back up in the car and find another hotel this late, and asked if we could have a discount if we stayed. The woman told us we would be discounted 50% if we continued with our stay, we decided to bear the smell for the discounted room price. Upon check out the next morning, I asked the new receptionist to confirm my discount and asked when I should receive the money back on my card. She told me the conversation was noted but that they could not give me the discount because I booked through a third party, after our stay was already completed. I told her I would have never paid that price to stay in that room and that we would have sought another hotel elsewhere had we known we were not getting the discount. There is no way that this location was not aware of the horrible smell in the room and should not have been offering it to guests. She apologized and told me there was nothing she could do. Hot tub was also cold.
