Parking was easy, the hotel itself was definitely extremely overpriced because of Umass family weekend and all colleges having events. In any other situation this hotel would be $150 at best and it was almost $500. Price gouging at its peak.

Stayed here for a couple nights due to proximity to UMass. Convenient to the highway and about 20 min to campus. Did not realize that this was a motel. Most rooms open to the outside. The room was clean but had an odd smell. They didn’t clean our room after the first night or bring clean towels. Also, our TV was broken and had two prominent lines going down the screen. Lastly, the wifi was horrible and barely worked. Would not stay here again. We paid a premium for the two nights because of family weekend but this definitely wasn’t a superior stay.

Positives first....Staff was very friendly and professional; breakfast was a good selection and clean, bed was very comfortable, and air conditioning and heater worked well. Location was very convenient to downtown Northampton. Negatives were there was a gap under the door to the outside and someone smoking pot outside room so it came right into our room. Don't think the gap under the door will work well in the winter or during heavy rain. Fire detector inside room did not have a cover so wiring was exposed. Outlets in the bathroom are placed so that the nightlight is right in your eyes when sleeping unless bathroom door is shut. Stained carpet, and bathroom had not been updated since the 1970's and shampoo and conditioner containers were hard to use. TV channels very limited and there was no guide as a reference for what the different channels were. We came on a busy fall weekend, but the price was easily double what it should have been for the condition of the hotel. I've paid half that for a new renovated room at many other hotels.

Do Better!

The exterior of the building is in poor condition. The parking area is bad. The walkways are in poor condition. The lobby is basic. The room was nice, but two major issues made it not nice. 1. when we turned on the heater, it smelled like a dead animal. We ran it for a while and opened the door and windows, and it got better. But ick! 2. noise - not sure what kind of noise, but like mechanical whirring and tapping, etc. at 4am. For a long time. Woke us up. Ugh. Finally, this room was around $350/night $350!!!! for the low end of Northampton. The Fairfield is 100% nicer and next door, but they didn't have any room. We won't be back.

The people above our room#126 came in late at night and were banging on the floor and yelling and arguing for a long time.Then at 2 am a drunk couple were outside our door yelling loudly for a long time.. sleep was impossible. Don’t have loud tv in the dining area at breakfast. The person at check in was good and helpful. The woman tending the breakfast area was very good.

I stayed one night with my kids for a college visit. Overall the room served its purpose as a place to sleep, but it smelled like cologne and was musty. The door to the shower/toilet wouldn't close, the air-conditioner was loud and didn't work very well and even though there was a microwave (which was nice to have) the turntable plate had some kind of sticky liquid on it, milk maybe? The people at the front desk were nice enough at check in and check out, no complaints there but the room could've been cleaner.

room 243. The bed light on one side was out, the shower curtain did not keep the water in the tub shower so had to use towels to mop up the floor. However, when I saw a housekeeper and asked for towels, she got them for me right away and I mentioned the curved up curtain rod keeps the shower curtain in the middle unable to prevent spray getting on the floor. Could not figure out the heating/cooling as seems set on 75 for heat, and 65 for cooling which made getting 70 degrees impossible so I just turned it off. Could not sleep well as people were outside one floor down talking loud enough that I couldn't drown out with my sound machine
