I went onto wotif throughTrivago. I was looking at this hotel with a double bed through another website. Wotif had a queen size bed available, so I booked through them. Had to pay upfront. Was a bit sceptical when I read "only if available " on the booking form. When we arrived, there was the queen bed!. Looking at the fire escape plan in the room, there was only 2 larger rooms on our floor (room 344) It was a smallish wedge shaped room. I you moved the office chair and put one case under the table and wedged one bag into a corner near the door then there was ample room. Our room had an excellent block out blind (a first on our two week trip in Japan) Unfortunately there was a large opaque window between the bathroom and bedroom and the only light switch turned the toilet and bathroom lights on at the same time. So if anyone got up to use the toilet in the night, the whole room was blasted with light. Beautiful clean room with lrg tv, lrg bath, good shower. In an area with lot's restaurants. Close to King Kong street and robot hotel if that's your thing. Samurai museum a few blocks. There is a back exit near lobby elevators which is a quick walk to train station. It's in the Love hotel area, but still felt quite safe. Beware if you ask hotel to call you a taxi, they will charge a booking fee, walk a few blocks and hail one yourself. The toof top bar was lovely, no charge if your a guest. Ice machine in lobby, have to ask at reception to get some, though no charge.
Beware the google map location takes you to another APA hotel but thankfully this hotel is just round the corner (2 mins walk). Staff speak little English but is enough to converse. Room is small but had enough amenities. The location is great with a mini mart next door and a short walk to Shinjuku station, once you get your bearings right.
