Where do I even start? We had a 12-day vacation in Japan. Started in Tokyo (exceptional service and place), then to Kyoto (Magnificent), then to Sapporo, to see the winter snow statues. The hotel in Sapporo, though, as they advertise, being a new hotel, is actually very minimalistic. There is nothing wrong with minimalistic, but it would be nice to know details prior to arrival. Room - extremely tiny. No TV - though we had no problem with that as they use a record player to substitute. NO water bottles in the room as you have to go to the 2nd floor to request. No toiletries - same process - have to go to the 2nd floor. Coffee ?? - NO coffee, but there is tea - but you have to go to the second floor to get it. Bed - is for people that preffer to sleep on the floor, as it is just as firm. The restaurant has much to learn from local "mom and pop" restaurants for quality. Service is beyond "sub-par," especially by Japanese standards. It was honestly a big disappointment, considering that this was the most expensive hotel during our trip, and was half "at best" as good as the other ones.

We had an awesome experience. The hotel staff are super helpful and friendly, fluent in English. There’s also a poet hidden I the room to be discovered. In all, highly recommended!

We really enjoyed our stay at The Royal Park Canvas at Odori Park! It was such a conveniently located hotel with so many station entrances nearby. It was also a short walk to major shopping streets in Sapporo. The rooms were very clean and quite spacious for Japan standards! We also loved the lounge and the amenities such as the coin laundry. Highly recommend and will definitely stay again at this hotel when we revisit Sapporo!

We to unfortunately cancel our trip due to a family emergency. We missed cancelling this hotel and the day of check in was charged our full stay. The hotel staff did not reply to any correspondence I sent and hotels.com staff tried to help but then advised nothing they can do. Hotel is not replying to my email at all. No reasoning or reply from the hotel at all. I understand policies but there has been no consideration of my circumstances.
