I would stay at this house again because the positives (an amazing (!!) backyard, very comfy beds, perfect location, really nice living room, ample parking) far outweigh the negatives (as another traveler noted, "needing repair" is not the same as "vintage"... I live in a house that is over a hundred years old and appreciate original details... but broken floor tile and such are unacceptable at this price point). But again I could overlook these aesthetic issues. The reason I took a star away is because some of the negatives were safety issues. 1) The best part of this house is the location feet away from the bay. But the grass is so overgrown that you cannot open the gate to the bay more than inches and you need to squeeze through. 2) The path to the bay only extends half way, meaning anyone with mobility issues is SOL (and this is a single story home so I would assume this is a large constituency). 3) Huge lack of outdoor lighting - either lighting does not exist or the lights were not working. I tripped just trying to get to the trashcans because all the outdoor lights were not working. Lastly, for such a quirky house, a guide would have been VERY helpful to understand the ins and outs of the house. All in all, at this price point, the owners could do better.

The location was fantastic, with quick access to the bay, beach, shopping, nightlife, etc. I already miss the amazing bay view. Would definitely stay here again!

We frequent the SD area routinely and while we chose this property for it's fantastic view of the Bay, we were sadly disappointed in the presentation of the property. MCM gem in Mission Bay
We filled all five bedrooms this stay, and cooked all our meals here. So many places for us to spread out for quiet time and gather for family time. Pleanty of parking took stress levels to zero.This Mid Century Modern charmer is suited to those desiring a mix of luxury and funkiness; it is a classic property with many original features that some reviewers did not appreciate. One thing to be clear about -- four of the five bedrooms are ensuite to the 3 bathrooms. The fifth bedroom has to access a bathroom through one of the other 4 bedrooms, this was an inconvenience to both the users of the bedroom without the bathroom, and whichever bathroom users had to share. There is no "general" bathroom, the three are all ensuite, with one being a jack and jill. The courtyard with additional fridge freezer was welcome, as were all the sand toys, seats, lawn, outside shower. We walked everywhere, groceries, coffee, all walking, and the single level was perfect for dad, 97, and his walker. Thank you for sharing this blast from the past.

Amazing location
The house was great for our families and all the little kids. It’s right on the bay and it’s nice and quiet. 2 of the burners on the stove didn’t work so it was a little harder to cook for a large group, and it could use a couple bigger skillets. Also, there’s no bathrooms outside of the bedrooms so anyone without a bathroom in their room has to go in someone else’s room to use it.
Other than that it was great! Walking distance to so many restaurants, shops, grocery, etc.

A Gem in Mission Beach
This is a very cute spot in a very quiet neighborhood in Mission Beach. It's an older home with a personality all it's own! Great space for a large family with an open floor plan. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook and have meals and we took full advantage of the beach cruisers in the garage for a leisurely ride to Pacific Beach. Check-in was great, but check-out was even easier! The backyard that faces the bay is large and relaxing to people watch as they stroll through the bay path. Location-wise, it's perfect and easily accessible whether you're interested in walking to the nearby shops and beach area or drive to the many great SD areas. Not only was the home spotless when we arrived, but so were the outdoor furniture and cooking area (grill). We'd definitely stay here again if we have another familiy gatherining in SD!

Very tired but great location
Property is very poorly maintained. Should have read the negative reviews before booking. Property smells old and of mildew when you enter. Kitchen poorly stocked. Dishwasher and dryer not working correctly. Dirty sofa which is falling apart. Three of five bikes had flat tires. Baby items piled in garage covered in dust & dirt. Storage area with old beach toys thrown in covered in dirt & spider webs. We knew we were booking an older style cottage home but did not expect it to be in such a bad state of repair. There were so many deficient areas, that we did not bother to call the management company during our stay as we were only there for three days and didn’t want our stay disrupted. Also these items should be dealt with before a guest checks in. Would definitely not book again.

OLD House- Quiet but Amazing Location!
The location is why everyone rents this house for sure.and also the fact that you don’t have to worry about being extra careful to dirty anything- because the house is extremely old outdated and unfortunately smelled very bad The moment we walked in- The smell hit us like a brick wall . It smells like a very very old house that’s never been touched. Other than that it worked fine for our needs. One huge thing missing from the description is the fact that there is no community bathroom! there are five rooms and each has its own bathroom . Two bedrooms share a jack and Jill bathroom . One bedroom does not have a bathroom connected so that guest had to keep walking into the master bedroom if they had to use the bathroom . Also there’s a sign on the fridge that indicates the icemaker is not working. For the small fortune that we paid to rent the house I would have hoped that the owner could get the ice machine fixed or replaced. The Jacuzzi takes forever to get hot so keep that in mind if you plan to be. We couldn’t find enough ping-pong balls that weren’t already smashed to play. But we made the best of it with the corn hole game which was so nice to have. Also the fact that we had to be quiet and have our music not heard within a certain distance on the mission Bayside even during the day made it a little uncomfortable to keep having to turning music down
If the owner could add a community bathroom that opens to the common areas repair all the broken tiles and do something about the terrible odor- the house would be great!

Superb location! Lots of space in this ranch style with a great fenced yard. Fantastic for family with kids, and we had a great time!
But the pictures and description oversell the condition of the property, which we grade as B minus. It is getting run down. Our noses were greeted with mildew inside the front door. The furnishings (furniture and sports equipment) are heavily used, and most are dirty or tattered. The tableware and cookware are thrift shop fodder, comprised of different sets/styles. The gas cooktop and ovens are serviceable. The refrigerator is missing shelves and doors on compartments and the ice dispenser is busted. The dishwasher got clogged and the garbage disposal leaked. Credit the PM, who immediately got a plumber on site. Two other quirks: all bathrooms are in bedrooms, no bathroom accessible in hallway. There is a step up then quickly down /tripping hazard as you enter the house. The listing didn't have a floor plan and the PM refused to provide one.

Location!
The house is huge with plenty of beds. The location was AMAZING! We sipped our coffee in the hotub and watched the sunrise over the bay. A short and easy walk to Pacific Beach and walking distance to restaurants and stores. The entire property is gated so it was very nice for families with young kids, plus we felt very safe. The property is stocked with many bikes, paddle boards and boogie boards! Large kitchen.

Mixed Bag Experience
The outdoor area on the bayside was the best part of the house and more than met our expectations. Sleeping accommodations were good (there is no twin bed in BR#4). Well provided with basic necessities and plenty of towels. However, this property suffers from a lack of property management oversight. Per the Welcome Guide, the "property is inspected before arrival". Based on the numerous issues discovered, that was simply not our experience. Too many items management should have known about were encountered. Deficient appliances, non-carpeted floors vacuumed but not mopped (as evidenced by black feet), bicycles in poor shape, sheds crammed full of sandy beach toys, chairs - of which many items were broken or junk. The most egregious issue, however, was the hot tub. It was operating improperly, had not not been cleaned/disinfected. It was contaminated with body fluids, and had a darkly stained oily "bathtub ring" around the perimeter. Enough said
