NW 23rd Avenue is a few blocks away with restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques lining both sides of the street. Salt & Straw is right on 23rd for Portland's famous handmade ice cream. Ringside Steakhouse is a Portland institution — old-school and worth every penny. Bamboo Sushi keeps things lighter with sustainably sourced rolls and great cocktails.
Powell's City of Books is a short walk away — it's the world's largest independent bookstore and takes up an entire city block. Even if you're not a big reader, it's one of those Portland things you have to see.
When you want to get outside, Forest Park is practically in your backyard — one of the largest urban forests in the country with miles of trails through old-growth trees. The Japanese Garden and International Rose Test Garden are both nearby in Washington Park. The property manager told us that we hadn't paid and it took us three tries to get our entry code. We had paid in full 4 months before. The location is great. The bathrooms need work. Mold in one and woobly toilet seats.
