Super annoying that there wasn't a coffee maker in the room. Ridiculous. Also, the ice machine on our floor wasn't working, and it wasn't fixed even after notifying staff. Finally, not having any water bottles provided in the room was also ridiculous. This hotel is worth it only because of its location--everything else is subpar. With the exception of the gym, which is surprisingly nice.

I simply don't like this area of Manhattan, so that's on me for booking at this location. You live and you learn. I was stopped by loiterers who were right outside the hotel doors every time I came and left. I did, however, enjoy how close it was to grand central station (literally right next door). It made it simple to get around the city, especially in the cold and to get to and from JFK airport. I must say the room was HUGE by NYC standards. The bed was big and comfortable. However, it was also a little grimy. I bought my own lysol wipes to santize it after I checked in. Part of the issue was the choice in furniture. The rugs had stains on them. If there were no rugs, there'd be no stains and cleaning the floor would be easy for the housekeeping staff. Some of the furniture also had shiny countertops that collected fingerprints. If the furniture wasn't designed this way, I wouldn't have been grossed out by all the smudges when I checked in. The room was well worn and could do with redecorating. I just thought the design was a little ugly and outdated, but not intolerable. All that being said, the staff was fantastic. When I requested earlier or extra housekeeping, the staff responded quickly and in a friendly way. The front desk staff answered any questions I had and took good care of me, too. I wouldn't stay here again, because of my opinion on the location and because the room wasn't really my style. However, I don't think it's a bad hotel.
