A great place to stat

Cool vibe - a reconditioned convent with the right mix of nods to the part focus of the building, comfortable rooms, and an austere air to the place. Being a couple blocks away from the Palace Theater, restaurants, and the Xcel Energy Center make it a nice location.

We stayed at the Celeste to attend NHL and PWHL games at the Excel Centre. The hotel was beautiful and interesting, the room was spacious, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The Celeste was less than a ten minute walk to the arena and we felt safe walking back late in the evening after games were over. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was convenient and sufficient. I would highly recommend the Celeste to anyone visiting St Paul.

Historic, cozy and warm. Darling bar in facility. Close to French Catholic Church and many others. Great art. Affordable, much cheaper than options nearby. Adequate street parking. If you are weary of boring, contemporary business styled accommodations, try the Hotel Celeste.

Go to St Paul Hotel instead and save yourself. Will NOT be back. Bed was lumpy. Pillows flat. Room temp hot. Zero noise canceling with thin walls and old windows. Drafty is an understatement. The “fireplace” is a TV screen with electric heater. Beyond lackluster breakfast. Terrible parking options. Pros: Very clean room. Nice shower. Awesome ambience.

Beautiful But Quirky

We had a wonderful time at the Celeste. The hotel itself is beautiful with a lot of the original woodwork intact. The staff was very friendly. The only reason I cant give it 5 stars is that there were some quirks with it being an old building. There was no fan in the bathroom or room. There was an analog alarm clock but it didnt have batteries. There were 2 closets but only one opened. Nothing horrible just little things. If you are looking for a warm welcoming place and are ok with no frills this hotel is great.
