Initial impressions were quite good; location is central to all things within walking distance, the grounds are beautiful, parking was seamless. The real disappointment came around midnight. A group of four drunk individuals camped out in the central lobby directly across from the reception desk. They were loudly yelling, laughing, and overall obnoxious. I attempted calling the front desk to ask they intervene but no one answered. At around 1:15 am, not able to sleep I went out of my room to ask they keep it quiet and ideally go to their room. I was then threatened by one of the party that “I’ll whip you up bad”. I returned to my room, they did leave, but a night was wasted at this hotel. My poor review is based on asking in the morning if they have a night clerk, only to learn yes, and the day clerk was aware of an “unruly” group on the second floor. It was clear they knew who these people were, but did nothing as management to intervene at the expense of patrons who were expecting a nights rest. Horrible customer service. In the end I was not offered so much as an apology. If traveling to Hamner Springs, do the favor of staying elsewhere.

The main building and surrounding gardens were beautiful. However, our cabin was old and worn out. The bed was comfortable. Staff were very good as well.

We were not given the room that we booked and paid for. Management did not care just said sorry. It was like the broom cupboard. They shouldn't accept reservations if they are full . They need yo skill up on customer service. The breakfast waitress was rude to guests.

Hanmer Springs 3day adventure

Excellent 3 days in Hanmer Springs. Historic hotel was well run and clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great and our dinner in the hotel restaurant was tasty and affordable. Hanmer Springs is a great place for spending a few days

Outside and gardens are pretty - unfortunately the outside is very misleading: inside, everything needs updating!!! Room had an armoire pushed to block off the door to the adjacent room. When I entered the room there was a fan blowing air towards the bed, in a corner two more heaters (I think). Carpet super worn. Walls marked. Windows dirty. Bathroom ol. Bed ok. Breakfast ok. Check in lady ok. Check out lady “checking out?” Is all she could say.

The property is well maintained but aged. Perfect location. Choose the room upstairs if you can as you can hear every footsteps and bathroom activities upstairs if you got live downstairs.
